Personals Miss Shirley Watkins of Londesboro visited on Sunday with her friend Miss Sheron Collins. Miss Diane Kirkconnell of Goderich and Miss Linda Israel of Kitchener spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Kirkconnell. • • Mrs. James McDougall of Goderich and Mrs: Ralph Munro went with Donald Youngblut of London to St. ' Joseph's Hospital, Guelph, where they visited with the ladies brother, William McEachern of Mount Forest, who was hurt when a farm forage harvester • passed over him. MARK'S ACW The July meeting of the Anglican Church Women of St. Mark's Church was held at the home of Mrs. George Schneider. The hostesses opened the meeting with a hymn. Mrs. Gordon Taylor accompanied on the accordion. The scripture- lesson was read by Mrs. John Daer. The topic was givenshy Mrs. Jim Schneider. Mrs. Ed. Davies gave the missionary theme. Mrs. George Hamilton's s birthday hymn Closed the program. Mrs. George' Schneider thanked all who .had taken part and Mrs. Thomas Haggitt, the president, took charge of the business period. The minutes of the previous meeting were .read by the secretary, Mrs. John Daer. The treasurer, Mrs. Andrew Kirkconnell, presented the financial statement. The travelling apron received a penny for each getter in "A summer flower". Cards were signed by the members for Rev. R. Meally in Ireland and for Mrs. Charles Scott who is ill in Goderich Hospital. Mrs. Andrew Kirkconnell thanked the ACW for the shower given in honour of her daughter, Mary, who is to be •married soon. A successful auction was • held. The hostess, with her daughter,. Mrs. Eileen Short, served a dainty lunch. visited a few days last week with Mrs, Beth Lansing. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Murray of Meson, Arizona visited last week with her cousin, Mrs. Gordon Taylor. Master Michael •Haggitt of Zurich is visiting with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Haggitt and Stephen. Gordon Plunkett is a patient in Victoria Hospital, ' London. We wish him a speedy recovery from his sore eye. Mr. and Mrs. John Weir and Mrs. Elsie Eustace of London spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Duncan. We wish her a speedy recovery. ' . Mr. and Mrs. Ken Scott last week attended a music program in :Toronto in which their son, Eric, took part with his guitar. Mr. and Mrs. William Stiles ,moveds last week into Goderich where he will assist his father at the funeral home. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Arthur, Wayne and Philip of Unionville moved into the village where Mr. Arthur will take over the furniture store and the Funeral home. Miss Gail Miller of Toronto is vacationing with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Miller. HORTICULTURISTS Plans for an open meeting of the. Auburn Horticultural Society were made by the executive at a meeting in the public library last week. The president, Mrs. Gordon Taylor, gave a welcome to the new members and led, discussion on the village flower beds. The treasurer, Mrs, W. Bradnock, 'presented the bills and, gave the financial statement. Plans are that Mrs. Ralph Munro, assisted by Mrs. Bert Craig, will show pictures of their recent trip through Europe. Mrs. Russel Brindley is to be in charge of the program. On the lunch' committee will be Mrs. Frank Raithby, Mrs. Torrance Tabb, Mrs. Ross Robinson and Mrs. R. Brindley. • KNOX CHURCH Church service at Knox Unite& Church last Sunday was led by Ed Haines and members of the Hi—C group,. Miss Jennifer Grange presided at the organ. Assisting with the service were Miss Brenda East, Miss Shelley Grange and Ray Hildebrand. The ushers were Brenda Ball and Brenda Archambault, Daryll . Ball and Daryk Ball. Marion Youngblut of London was honoured last Friday evening when neighbours and friends gathered in the Sunday School Room of Knox Presbyterian Church prior to her marriage next month. Mrs. W. Bradnock was the chairman. Mrs. Donald Haines held several contests during the evening. Winners were Mrs. Roy Daer and Mrs. Ed Davies. She also passed a mystery parcel and the winner was Miss Kate McNabb. Miss Margaret Sanderson of London held a contest. Mrs. John Hallam gave an interesting reading and Mrs. Ed Davies was the winner. Dressing up a wedding party blind folded created much amusement and this was done by Miss Nancy Anderson, Miss Margaret Sanderson, Miss Margaret Youngblut and Mm, Donald Smith. Mrs. Donald Plunkett pinned a corsage on Marion and Margaret Sandersons pinned a corsage on Margaret Youngblut. Miss Nancy Anderson read an address of congratulations and gifts were presented by Mrs. Donald Plunkett, Miss Margaret Shortreed and Miss Sanderson. Marion thanked everyone for their' gifts and invited all to visit her in London. A nosegay of ribbons was made by Mrs. D. Smith and presented to the guest of honour. Lunch was served by members of the Ladies' Aid of Knox Presbyterian Church. A funeral service was held on Tuesday at, the William Stiles Aineral Home for John N. Beadle who died at Huronview on,Sunday after a short illness. He was born on Nov, 20, 1880 in West Wawanosh Township, the son of the late George Beadle and Emma Merritt of England. He was a member of Knox United Church, Auburn. His wife, the former Catherine. May Craig predeceased him in 1941. He is survived by one son, Russell, of Burnaby, B.C.' and also several nieces and nephews, including Harold Lawson of Clinton, Charles Robinson of Lucknow, Ross Robinson of Auburn, Mrs. Jean Patterson of Goderich, Mrs. Thomas Haggitt Of Auburn, Mrs. Clifford Brown of Goderich and Mrs. Joe, Thompson of Goderich. The Rev. J. MacDonald of Goderich was in charge of the service with burial in Bali's, Cemetery. Pallbearers were Messers Charles, Oe orge Calvin, Hdas, MaSon and Hog Robinson. Clinton W.I. 'holds,picnic The July, meeting of the Clinton Women's .Institute was held in the Community Park last Thursday with a very good attendance. Grandmothers' Day was combined with the picnic andeall reported a good time.' A short business meeting preceded the sports program. A bus trip to Tobermory was planned, leaving Clinton Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. A, penny• sale was 'held.
