Boys visit Michigan
Three ' dozen Pee Wee and
Bantam hockey players, some of
them now in Pee Wee baseball,
travelled to Dearborn, Michigan,
last weekend with an escort of
eight or nine adults and visited
with youths who came' to
Clinton last winter. The Clinton
boys watched as the Tigers
defeated Washington 9-5 on
Saturday.

holding playoffs
In ,semi-finals for the IKipettes.

Saturday, the 1luebirds beat the
Robins and the Canaries, beat the
Wrens. The final game was
played 'last evening and results
wild be published next week..
In the Bluebird -Robin match,
home runs were scored by

Colquhoun, Marlene
Cunningham, Sally Walden,
Darlene Webb, Peggy Schoenhals
and Patti Kay.
In the Canary—Wren game,
home runs were batted by Lori
Symons, Bonnie .Johnson, Joyce
Neilans, Kathy Patterson, Mieky
McPherson, Diane Cunningham
and Barb Pollock.
The standings at the end of
the regular game schedule
showed the Bluebirds with 10;
Canaries, 7; Robins, 6 and
Wrens, 5.
UCW meets
The evening unit of Ontario
Street United Church Women
met at the cottage of Dorothy
Pickett with 28 members present
on Monday.
The devotions were led by
Valiva Trewartha, with Harriett
Tyndall assisting. Readings were
given by Valerie Mair and Clara
Dale:
The unit is to help at the
general meeting in September
and be in charge of flowers, it
was announced.
Gifts were presented to Edith
Lobb and Bertha Matthewson,
both of whom are leaving this
summer.
Contests were held, the
hostess was thanked for use of
her cottage and lunch was served
by Group 4.
Highland dancing competition held
The bagpipes worked
overtime Sunday at Huron
Centennial Public School,
Brucefield, as the Western
Ontario Highland Dancing
Association held its second
annual competition.
Organized by the Goderich
branch of the association, it had
contestants from Brantford,
Milton, Guelph, Galt, Kitchener,
London and district, Stratford,
Goderich and district, and
Woodstock.
Big winner of the day was
Kirk Brush of Milton, who won
the B. P. Robinson Trophy as
the best dancer of the day and
the Young Trophy. He also won
four of the five events in the 15
and under division.'
In the eight -and -under
competition Cheryl Harrison of
Goderich won the hornpipe and
Irish jig, while Sandra Lowe of
Brantford won the. Highland
fling and the sword dance. Joan
Brown won ,the seann truibhas.
Susan Caie of Brantford won
three of the four dances in the
11 -and -under division, taking the
sword, the seann truibhas and
the hornpipe. Mary -Helen Lunn
won the Highland fling,
In the 12 -and -under division,
Heather Scott of Brantford won
all five dance events.
Joslyn McDougall of
Woodstock won four of the five
events in the 13 -and -under
division. Beth , McKay of
Goderich won the Flora
MacDonald.
Kirk Brush won four of the
five events in the 15 -and -under
division, while Carol
MacCrimmon won the Flora
MacDonald.
June Mitchell of Kitchener
won all five dances in the
16 -and -over division, winning
the Highland fling, the sword,
the seann truibhas, the—hornpipe
and the Flora MacDonald.
Division winners, selected on
the basis of total number of
points scored in all events, were;
Sandra Lowe in the
eight -and -under; Susan Caie
11 -and -under; Heather Scott,
12 -and -over; Joslyn McDougall,
13 -and -under; Kirk Brush,
15 -and -under; and June Mitchell,
16 -and -over. Sally Anne Kerr of
Goderich was the winner in the
novice division (10 -and -under).
Mrs. Gordon Hall of Toronto
was the competition judge.
Piper was Joe MacDonald.
