picnic was held at the home of b

Seaforth, with 34 in attendance.
Elsie Keyes and Mary
Mustard had races for the young
ones and a relay and guessing
games for the adults.
Bruce and Anna Keyes are to
be next year's presidents when
the picnic is scheduled for the
Lions Park in Seaforth on the
4th Sunday in June,
Maryke Van Altena, daughter. of Mr. and Mrs. Frank G. Van Altena of Clinton, was married last
Saturday to Ken Osborn of Windsor, a former Clinton resident. In town for the ceremony were three
of Ken's grandparents and all four of Maryke's grandparents. Her relatives came to Clinton from the
Netherlands to attend the wedding. The newlyweds are at centre above. The bride's grandparents, at
far left, are John Van Altena, Mrs. Catherine Van Altana, William Brehm and Mrs. Margaret Brehm.

Middetons are wed 50 years;
honored by family, and friends
Mr, and, Mrs Fred Middleton

golden` wedding anniversary with
an open house, reception and tea
at their home in ' Goderich
Township last Wednesday.
The Middletons were married
June 18, 1919 by the Rev. A. L.
G. Clark of St. George's Church,
Goderich, at the home of the
bride's parents, Mr. ,and Mrs.
James•Johnston.
They' have spent the 50 years
since on the Middleton farm, a
century ' farm on the Bayfield
Road, and have been very active
in community affairs.
More than 150 persons called
on the couple last week and all
the women visitors were greeted
by Mr. Middleton with a hearty
kiss in the Trudeau manner. Mrs.
Middleton was wearing a rose
suit and an orchid for the
occasion.
The house was decorated with
arrangements of golden roses,
" =Many of them gifts of
well-wishers among whom were
the Anglican Church Women of
St. James Church, Middleton.
Guests were received at the
door by Mrs. Robert Campbell.
Cindy, Joanne and Shelley
Middleton were, in charge of the
guest book. Pouring tea during
the afternoon were Mrs. Charles
Wise, Mrs. William Wise and Miss
Kathleen McNaughton. Taking.
over in the evening ' were Mrs.
Ken Taylor of Blyth, Mrs. F. H.
Paull of Bayfield, Miss Nancy
Middleton of Stratford, and the
Misses Patsy .and Linda Wise and
Marnie Middleton.
Many messages of
congratulations were received.
Telegrams came from Prime
Minister ,Pierre Trudeau, the
Hon. Robert Stanfield, the Hon.
John Robarts, premier of
Ontario; the Hon. Charles
MacNaughton, Huron MPP and
Robert McKinley, MP for
Huron. There was also a wire
from Miss Shirley Cooper of
• Bermuda, a former neighbor of
the Middletons.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Middleton
were honored at a family dinner
at the Little Inn in Bayfield on
Sunday. Forty-two persons
attended.
The Middletons have seven
children: Mrs. J. W. (Margaret)
Counter of Clinton; Mrs. Robert
(Kathleen) Campbell of Clinton;
Mrs. Edward (Elizabeth) Mullens
of Toronto; Mrs. Andrew
(Barbara) Grindlay of London,
England; Ted of Stratford; David
of RR 4, Clinton, and Donald on
the home farm. All were present
but Barbara who visited with her
parents when they travelled to
England earlier this year.
Also at the family dinner were
Mrs. Charles Wise and Mrs.
William Wise of Clinton, Miss
Kathleen McNaughton of
London and Miss Agnes
Middleton Of Goderich. Mt. and
Mrs. Fred Middleton have 25
grandchildren.

Snells gather in Londesboro
Clarkesburg, Ontario. Miss
Margaret Bain of Stratford held
the lucky ticket on a lawn chair.
Keith Snell gave an
interesting account of a trip he
and his wife took to Labrador
City to visit his brother Lorne
and family.
The third Saturday in June
was chosen for the 1970 picnic
to be held in Londesboro. The
executive officers elected are the
same as last year with Donald
Snell, Waterloo, president and
Beatrice Welsh, Bayfield,
secretary -treasurer. The
committees were all returned.
The 38th annual Snell
reunion was held at Londesboro
last Saturday with 85 people
registering. A variety of races
and sports for young and old
were held and a bountiful meal
was served in the hall.
In the absence of the
president, Don Snell of
Waterloo, • the vice-president,
Wilfred Walker of Wingham,
acted as chairman for the
business meeting.
The oldest person attending
was Mrs. Wick of Stratford. The
largest family present was a tie
between the Keith Snells and
Ken McNalls. Persons coming
the 1 longest distance were Mr.
and Mrs. Russell Thompson,

The June Birthday party at
Huronview was held on June 18
with the Crediton Institute in
charge. Mrs. Davey convened the
program consisting of: a.
sing -song, conducted by Mrs.
Fahner and Mrs. Hodgins; a
reading by Mrs. G. Dearing; trio,
United Church Women of Grace.'
Church was held last Wednesday
at the home of Mrs. Argyle
Lockhart. The president, Mrs,
Don Harris, chaired the meeting
which opened with singing.
Scripture lesson was read by
Mrs. Tom Sowerby.
Mrs. William Townshend gave
the minutes of the previous
meeting and the roll was called.
The financial report was given
by Mrs. Sowerby. At the close of
the business meeting the Rev.
and Mrs. Beck were presented
with a gift of. stainless steel
flatware along 'with sincere Best
Wishes for the future.
A closing hymn was sung after
which Rev. Beck led in prayer
and gave a closing message:

Church, London, was decorated
with baskets of white mums and
pink gladioli on May 3, when the
Rev. A. J. Farquhar, in a
double -ring ceremony, united in
marriage Bonnie Dianne
Kennedy and Claude Gerald
Barr.
The bride is the daughter 'of
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Kennedy,
Huron Park, and the groom is
the son of Mrs. Retta Barr of
Pakenham, Ontario and the late
Herbert Barr.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride had chosen a
floor -length gown of white
Iagoda and chantilly lace. The
sleeveless lace bodice was
highlighted by a boat -shaped
neckline and empire waist. The
gently controlled A-line skirt
was accented at the back with
extra fullness. Over this was
worn a chantilly lace coat, with
a rolled lagoda collar and elbow
length sleeves. Her cape -length
three tiered silk chiffon veil was
held by a headdress of tiny roses

bouquet of red roses and fern.
Miss Carol Stewart of
London, maid of honour and
bridesmaid, Miss Carol Bloor,
cousin of the bride, London,
wore identical floor length
gowns of fiesta pink chiffon.
The sleeveless gowns were
accented by multi -coloured
guipure lace trimming the
scooped necklines and empire
waists while a cardinal coat
effect was produced by chiffon
draping from the shoulders to
the floor. They wore matching
headdresses.
Miss Lori Kennedy as junior
bridesmaid and Misses Kim and,
Christine Kennedy as flowergirls,
all sisters of the bride, wore
identical floor length gowns of
fiesta pink chiffon with puffed
sleeves and empire waists

brother of the groom, was best
man and Bryan Smith, Lucan,
and Alan Kennedy, brother of
the bride, Huron Park, were
ushers.
Music was provided by Barry
Cabena.
For the reception held at the
Legion Hall, Lucan, the bride's
mother had chosen a
powder -blue coat and dress
ensemble with matching hat,
white accessories and corsage of
white carnations tipped with
blue and pink roses. She was
assisted by the groom's mother
wearing a turquoise coat and
dress ensemble, white floral hat
and white accessories with a
corsage of white gardenia and
stephanotis.
For a trip.. to . Washington,
D.C., the bride wore an orange
coat and dress ensemble with
matching hat, beige accessories
and corsage of orange roses.
The young couple will make
their home at Clandeboye. The
groom is an Q.P.P. Constable
with the Lucan Detachment.
The bride is on the staff of the
Board of Education, London.
Prior to her marriage, the
bride was feted by several
showers. Mrs. Sheldon Boyle,
London, aunt of the bride, Miss
Carol Stewart, London and Miss
Sharon Bates, London, held
showers in her honor at their
homes.

Knox Presbyterian Church
was the setting for a wedding
ceremony on, Saturday, May 10,
when Suzanne Mary Grace Berry
became the bride of Robert
Wayne Vodden. Rev. Lockhart
Royal officiated at the
ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. John G. Berry,
Goderich and the groom is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick
Vodden, R. R. 1, Clinton.
The church was decorated
with pink carnations and white
baby mums with trailing ivy set
in a pair of candelabra, On the
altar were vases of pink gladioli
and white feather mums.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a full
length gown of cloud white
Chantilly lace over stiffened silk.
The long coat effect, edged with
self scallops of the lace ended in
a cathedral train. Self ruffles
touched with tiny bows
garnished the neck and wrist.
She carried a cascade of bridal
pink roses and trailing ivy. Her
headpiece was a crown shaped
tiara of tiny seed pearls
enhanced by a shoulder length

Maid of -honor was Linda
Young, Dungannon. The
bridesmaids were Elaine Berry,
sister of the bride and Mrs.
Ronald Hugill of Baden, sister of
the groom. ,Lisa Hugill, niece of
the groom, was flower girl.
The attendants were dressed
alike in floor length gowns of
pale turquoise peau-de-charme
with ruffled necks and hems.
They carried white baskets of
bridal pink roses, white baby
mums and trailing ivy.
The best man was William
Vodden, brother of the groom.
Ushers were Stephen Tyndall,
Clinton and Michael Berry,
brother of the bride,
For a reception at the
Maitland Country Club the
bride's mother chose an
emsemble of dawn pink French
silk appliqued with matching
Alencon lace. She wore navy
accessories and a pale pink
orchid corsage.
The groom's mother assisted
at the reception wearing a coat
and dress costume of sea aqua
Matlesse with navy accessories.
She wore a corsage of deep pink
carnations.
Calvin Krauter of Brussels
acted as master of ceremonies.
For a honeymoon trip to
Northern Ontario the bride
chose a dress and coat ensemble
of pale blue and white brocade
with navy accessories and a pale
pink orchid corsage.
Previous to her marriage the
bride was honored at five
showers given by Mrs. M.
Simpson and Mrs. C. Schneiker;
Jill Sheardown and the staff of
the Canadian Imperial Bank of
Commerce; Linda Young; Mrs.
Bert Shobbrook of Londesboro;
