unit of Wesley — Willis United
Church Women went to Mrs.
Olive Ball's cottage at Bayfield
to held their monthly meeting.
The meeting was held
outdoors along with a
smorgasbord picnic tench.
Seventeen members answered
the roll call with an exchange of
plant slips and bulbs.
Mrs., Ball was program
convenor and opened the
meeting. Mrs. Sinclair read
scripture. The leader, Mrs.
William Murch, was absent so
Mrs. Cliff Stewart conducted the
business.
It was reported that members
made 13 hospital and 9 home
calls, Thank -you cards were read
from Mrs. Roy Cantelon, Mrs.
Robert Irwin, and Mrs. William
Murch, Mrs. Herb Jenkins
reported that a 270.Ib. bale was
packed.
A gift was presented to Mrs.
Don Kerr who will be leaving
with her husband for the West
Coast soon.
No meetings will be held, in
July or August. The fall
meetings start in September with
a pot luck luncheon to which
the Fidelity Unit has been
invited.
A sewing meeting will be held
Tuesday at Mrs. Ken Woods at
1:30 p. m.
STANLEY UNIT
The Stanley Unit of
Brucefield United Church
Women held its June meeting at
the summer home of Mrs. Cal

attending. ,
Mrs. #Ienderson tear a short
worship service. Mrs. Stewart
reported that the U9W picnic is
likely to be the third week in
July at the church.
The Stanley, Group is
responsible for cookies July 2 at
the vacation school and will be
in charge of study and devotions
at the Septem er meeting..
It was reported that get-we!i
cards went to Mrs. Douglas, Mr.
and Mrs./W. Scott and Mrs. N.
Baird. motes of sympathy was
sent to Mrs. Douglas and Mrs.
Eyre.
FIDELITY UNIT
A bus trip to several states in
the U.S. was the topic of a talk
given by 'Mrs. Frank Fingland at
the June meeting of the Fidelity
Unit, Wesley -Willis United
Church Women, last week.
Sixteen members were.present
to see Mrs. Woods present
samples of work to be finished
for the fall bazaar. They also
heard a reading by Mrs. Bond on
growth. Mrs. Daisy Holland
passed out patches 'for a crib
quilt.
The treasurer reported an
offering of $25,75. It was agreed
to send cards to two absent
members and it was noted that
tickets are on sale for next
week's rose petal tea. Lunch was
served by Mrs. Afmstrong and
Mrs. Holland.
The Mary and Martha
Unit will hold a
ROSE PETAL TEA

Church Parlour of
Wesley -Willis United Church
Wednesday, June 25
from 2:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Brucefield United _Church met
recently at the home of Mrs,
Ross Chapman, Mrs. Edgar Stoll
and Mrs,' Bert Walters were in
charge of devotions.
Roll call was answered by 1:13
persons, who signed a get -well
card for Mrs. Norman Walker
who is in the hospital. Mrs, Mary
Haugh offered her home for the
September meeting.
Chinese food,including
fortune cookies, was on the
menu for a lunch served to the
women.
Junior Farmer
executive meets
The executive of the Huron
County Junior Fanners met in
Clinton last week. Jamieson
Riley, president, reported that a
relative has taken over the care
of the child the junior farmers,
werehelping overseas. A child in
India is now to be supported by
the group here.
The safety committee has
been asked to set up .an exhibit
at the Blyth Fall Fair, it was
reported, and the county field
day is to be held in Seaforth a
week from Saturday. The zone
field day is being held a month
from today, on July 19, in
Walkerton.
A request has been received
for billets for the Kent County
exchange the weekend of August
1-3 and the York County
exchange, August 22-24.
A committee was set up to
arrange a formal in the fall. The
next meeting` will be on
Wednesday.
Fishermen, fined $30
on trespassing charge.
Two Kitchener -Waterloo men
were fined $30 and costs each in
provincial judge's court in
Goderich Thursday. They were
found guilty of trespassing to go
trout fishing in Goderich
Township. The court was told
Stanley Rowe of Kitchener and
Edward Becker of Waterloo
ignored no trespassing signs and
entered a fenced area on Elmer
Trick's farm, RR 2, Clinton.
The two had been ordered
from - the property in the'
morning but returned and police
were called. -
In fining the pair, Judge
Glenn Hays told them: "You
were bold to go back a second
time. You can't push people
around on their own property."
