Town awaits OMB
The town is still waiting for
Ontario Municipal Board
approval of plans to install a
sanitary sewer line on Maple
Street, it was reported Monday
evening at a meeting of the town
council.
Because the sewer will
connect on Whitehead Street,
the paving of Beech and
Whitehead Streets has been
delayed, but the council agreed
to call for paving tenders now to
speed eventual completion of
the project.
Councillor Cameron Proctor
argued against inclusion of
Dinsley and Gibbings Street in
the paving work. Both are due
for a top or finishing layer of
paving, but Coun. Proctor said
they are in good condition and
the money would be better
sewer OK
spent on Albert Street sidewalks.
Coun. Harold Lobb countered
with the view that Albert Street
itself may soon be rebuilt and
that it would be ridiculous to
spend money on sidewalks there
now.
Huron MPP Charles S.
McNaughton is to be contacted
and asked to expedite OMB
consideration of the sewer
project because houses on the
street are already occupied and
more houses are to be built this
summer.
