Smooching between husband and wife, particularly in the early -morning hours, .is kind. of an immunization against an untimely death. At our house we had grown a little careless about those good-bye kisses. After 15 years of wedlock, some of the breathless romance had gone out of our marriage. What's more, after making lunches and breakfasts for five people, rustling up enough cash for the milkman and spooning Cream of Wheat cereal into a baby with this lips clamped tightly shut, we weren't to much in the mood for love. But we've made an effort for the sake of husband's longevity, Sometimes we've forgotten that private peck at the door and we've been forced to engage in a rather public pucker on the steps or even at the car. But we manage to get the job done and that's the main thing, we figure. Besides preserving" husband's life, those quickie kisses have given new impetus to the neighborhood gossip. Why does she chase after him. every morning, they must be asking, just to give him a kiss? Does she have something to hide? Is she trying to win him back froth someone? Are they trying to impress the children'! 1-iave they no shame? Madeleine Lane meets in cottage Despite the cool showery weather June 12, the Madeleine Lane Auxiliary St.Andrew's ha of A n' Presbyterian Church, Clinton, held an evening meeting at the summer cottage of Mrs. Royce Macaulay in Bayfield. Nineteen members enjoyed a pot -luck supper after which the president, Mrs. Robert Homuth, conducted a short business session. It was decided that the auxiliary will not hold at large noon luncheon in Jul r tNiVear r because several.tiiemh;8lt 4.Il,d'#rr! be available to help. Two large banquets will be catered by the women in September, it was announced. Mrs. William F. Cook, vice-president of the auxiliary and a hard worker in the nine years she has been a member, is moving to Goderich with her husband and two children later this month and received a gift from Mrs. Robert Gibb, assisted by Mrs. Robert Morgan, on behalf of the entire group. People accept it as normal behavior to see a full-grown male jogging around the block at some ridiculous hour of the day, Surely they can understand the healthful habit of kissing husband -good-bye! I imagine though, there will be some concern in the homes where hubby is not standing in • good stead with his wife. If she should deliberately withhold her favor when he leaves for work in the morning, it could be classed as homocide, I suppose, should husband succumb at an early age. Wouldn't that be a +difficult charge to make stick.. There was no indication in the article, however, just : what effects wouldbe wrought if the little woman failed in, her wifely kissing duties and some other woman took on the job, Or how long the average male would survive, if his wife and at least one other woman endowed him freely with their kisses every day'? It is plain to see the subject needs more intensive study. In the meanwhile, I'll continue to buss my husband every morning before he leaves the house for work. It can't do any harm, it might do some good and it is enjoyable in the bargain.
