SPARE WHEELS
Motorists, remember that
your spare wheel is liable to lose
pressure much faster than a
wheel in use. Your fifth wheel is
a safety device, says the Ontario
Safety League, but neglect to
check it regularly could make it
hazardous, or useless, when
needed in an emergency.
Fred Shaw, left, an administrative clerk in the Supply Section at

Questions safety
of school buses
BY RICHMOND ATKEY•
A bus hired by the Huron
County Board of Education to
transport students to and from
the school at Holmesville
reportedly lost a wheel in a May
9 mishapand
the accident
promptethe board last week to
launch a full investigation into
safety regulations for buses and
operators. '
The move was initiated by
Robert M. Elliott, RR 1,
Clinton, who represents
Goderich and Colborne
Townships. He led a lengthy
discussion and urged exercise of
the greatest care possible in bus
operation. Board members
agreed and voted unanimously
to study the situation.
No one was hurt in the
accident this month. The school
principal reported the matter to
the board and the operator,
Huron Automotive and Supply,
Goderich, agreed to place
another bus in service.
