Gingerich's bad day-
Zurich store burns,
Clinton sign falls
The Clinton and Seaforth
Gingerich's Sales and Service
stores are not expected to be
affected by the tire which
heavily damaged' the company's
store in Zurich last Wednesday
night.
As if fate was conspiring
against Gingerich's, the large sign
over the sidewalk in front of the
Clinton store gave way last
Thursday afternoon, but didn't
fall quite to the ground and
caused no damage, according to
Police Chief Lloyd Westlake.
The chief had noticed the
sign swaying in the wind and
went in to notify someone in the
store when the sign pulled free
from the wall and dropped. •It
ended tip dangling by its -cables,
about two feet off the ground,
Chief Westlake said.
The Zurich fire, which one
report attributed to a faulty air
conditioner, broke out shortly
before midnight in the basement
of the two-storey store in which
Gerald Gingerich and his family
had an upstairs apartment.
Firefighters from Dashwood
and Zurich put the fire out in •
about an hour and confined the
flames to the basement, but
smoke damaged merchandise on
the main floor and left the
apartment uninhabitable.
Mr. Gingerich and his
children were reportedly
sleeping when the fire started.
Mrs. Gingerich returned from a
meeting, noticed smoke and
roused the family. Everyone
escaped unhurt, but one son,
Garry, returned for some
belongings and collapsed from
smoke inhalation.

Beangrowers find Treflan
ensures effective weed control.
"With this new Treflan,
we can grow beans
on dirty land as well;"
says. Ken Mailoux.
"Treflan gives me 100%
control of foxtail,
lambsquarters and pigweed,"
says Clifford Wildblood.
Treflan is giving beangrowers the weed control
they need to help iower labour costs and achieve
better profits.
Ken Mailbox of Comber, bntario, found the
worst weeds in his soybeans were pigweed and
tanibsquarters. Now "Treflan is controlling the
weeds very well," hesa s. "This year, because Cif
all the rain, f haven't been able to rotary hoe, and
Treffan's really done the job for me."
Clifford Wildblood farms a fertile day loam that
can really grow white beans -- and weeds -- at
Chatham, Ontario. He's been using Treflan for two
years now "with very satisfactory results,"
Clifford finds it pays tb make sure Treflan is
properly incorporated in the soil before planting
'
time. And it's simpleit to do. f workin, dist both
ways before planting ... that's all," he says.
Treflan can help you achieve results like these.
