New principals were .named
for the J, A. D. McCurdy Public
School at Centralia and. the
Colborne Central School when
the Huron County Board of
Education met Monday evening
in Central Huron Secondary
School, Clinton, '
Slated for the McCurdy
School post is W. J. Linfield, a
native of Goderich now teaching
near Barrie, Ont. The Colborne
job will be filled by W. H. BIack
who is currently supervising
principal for public schools in
Belgrave, Brussels and Blyth.
The appointments were
contained in motions reported
out of a closed April 14
committee of the whole
meeting. Salaries were not
announced and no further
background information on the
Hullett weighs
The possibility of Hullett
Township residents being
required to make earlier
payments of their 1969 taxes
was discussed at the April
meeting of the Hullett council.
The discussion was brought
about in view of the new county
school board system which clerk
Clare Vincent said, may require
funds before present tax
payment date in November.
Although no decision was
taken on the matter, council
considered the possibility that
taxes may be collected two or
three times a year in
installments.
Hullett council, on a motion
of councillors Charles Scanlon
and John Jewitt, endorsed the
resolution of Tuckersmith
Township, opposing the
establishment of regional
government as presented by the
Ontario Government.

Turnbull, Exeter Public Schools.

In other business, council
proclaimed the week of April
20-26 as "Children's Aid Week"
in the township and instructed
clerk Vincent to prepare a bylaw
which will provide for an
election for a one-year term of
office so that township elections
will co-incide with county
school board elections.
Road accounts totalling
$2,222.56 were approved for
payment as well as general
accounts of $2,066.46 and
$1.600 for engineers' report on
Hullett drains.
Reports on the following
drains were read: Burwell,
$ 5,800; Huether, $4,100;
Hunking, $12,000; and
Kennedy, $1,550.

D.D.G. of Lions area
Over 125 members of Lions
International assembled at the
Zurich Community Centre, on
Wednesday, April 16 for the
annual spring rally of Region 3
of District A-9. Warren Zur-
brigg, RR 2, Clifford, the out-
going Deputy District Governor
(Region 3) chaired the dinner
meeting, called to pick a new
Deputy District ,Governor and
chairmen for the two zones
within the region.
Acclaimed as the new Deputy
District
Governor was Lloyd
"Casey" Casemore, a past presi-
dent of the Wingham Lions
Club, who has been active in
Lions public speaking, member-
ship campaigns and Lions' Eye
Bank of Canadaro'ec .

Moody, Mount Forest, Distribt

ed that a new Lions Club was
being chartered this week at
Tottenham; Ozzie Foreman,
Grand Valle who spoke abo
District A -9's interst in the
Eye Bank of Canada project,
and Jack Henderson, Owen
Sound, who was seeking support
as District Governor of A-9 at
the District "A" convention in
Ottawa, May 25-28.
The presidents of each of the
13 clubs introduced their mem-
bers present: Zone 3 South —
Zurich, 25 members; Grand
Bend 12, Bayfield 11, Exeter 8,
Clinton 3, Seaforth 3; Zone 3
North — Blyth, 21 members;
Brussels 11, Goderich 9, Howick
9, Wingham 4, Teeswater 4 and
Lucknow 4.

ducted by Zurich Lions, were:
