Mrs. Fred Beer, Mrs. Robert Elgie, Mrs, Peck and Mrs. Wilbert CHiSELLHURST UCIN President Mrs, Thos Brintnell, of Chiselhurst United Church Women opened the April meeting with "The Easter Miracle." Mrs. William Brintnell had charge of the devotion worship. Miss Ruth Ann Coleman spoke on The Toc Alpha Youth. Conference she attended at Niagara Falls in December. Mrs. Alf Ross Sr., played a medley of selections on the organ. Monday afternoon of last week; the ladies entertained the residents of the Blue Water Rest Honie, Zurich, for the monthly birthday party and presented a program which the residents enjoyed. ST. PAUL'S,ACW The regular meeting of St. Pauls ACW was held last Thursday with nine members present. Mrs. Annie Reid, president, read devotions and prayer. Mrs. Mary Taylor and Mrs. Kay Scrabuik will represent the ACW at the second Annual meeting of the Diocese of Huron in London Monday. PERSONALS Mr. Charles Mickle left by plane last week for Bethlehem, Pa., where he will resume his studies at Lehigh University after spending a two-week vacation with his parents, relatives and friends. Dining were appointed as delegates, Mrs Beer presidedad fort e program which, included highlights of her weekend Easter vacation in Washington. Mrs. Harry Horton and Mrs, Elizabeth Riley's group were winners. Car hits horse, • girl, 12, hurt Susan Luther, 12,agrade eight student at Hensall ublic School, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Luther, is resting comfortably in South Huron Hospital, Exeter, following a weekend riding accident in which she sustained a fractured pelvis and bruises. Susan was riding a horse and was turning into a lane at Harold 'Elder's, RR 2, Hensall, when a car driven by Brian Fields, 16, RR 2, Hensall hit the horse. Susan was thrown off the horse which was later destroyed. The girl will be in hospital for several weeks. Provincial police of Exeter Detachment are investigating. DRAW WINNERS At a dance held in Hensall Arena last Friday evening, sponsored by the Hensall Minor Athletic Association, two draws were made and the lucky winners were:- Luggage (1st prize), James R. Cooper, RR 4, Clinton, (electronic teacher at Central Huron Secondary School) and Kroehler hostess chair (2nd prize) Mrs. Ron Wareing, Hensall. Plans were made for the spring rummage sale to be held next month. A donation was given to the local firemen for the fireworks display in May. Election of officers for 1969-70 are as follows: Past president, Mrs. Ron Wareing; president, Mrs. Harold Knight; secretary, Mrs. Alvin Campbell; treasurer, Mrs. John Baker; registrar, Mrs. Murray Baker and bulletin editor, Mrs. Ron Wareing. PERSONALS Mrs. Harry Klungel left Monday last by jet to visit relatives in the Netherlands. She will spend three weeks there. Mrs. Harold Bonthron is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital, London, where she underwent surgery. - Randy Moir, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Moir underwent an emergency appendectomy in St. Joseph's Hospital last week. He is in kindergarten at Hensall Public School. Mrs. Marie Beatrice Dow, resident of Blue Water Rest Home, was taken by ambulance to South Huron Hospital on Wednesday, April 9. Greta Lamle; hostesses, Mrs, Archie. Noakes and Mrs. Beaton. DR. l3YkCAMPBELL pr. Byron A, Campbell,. Toronto, died in South Huron Hospital last Saturday at the age of 99, Dr. Campbell would have reached his l.QOth birthday July 1 this year, The late Dr, Campbell came to Lucan last Wednesday evening to attend a lodge meeting and while staying overnight with friends, in Exeter became ill and was taken to the hospital. Dr, Campbell practised in Zurich for 25 years before taking up residence in Toronto. He was a post master of Huron Lodge A,F. and A.M. 224, Hensall, and chartered member of Huron and Bruce Lodge, Toronto, His wife the former Amy Murdock of �ensail, predeceased him in 1964, Surviving are two daughters, the Misses Jean and Dorothy Campbell, Toronto; a son, Keith, Windsor and one granddaughter, Barbara. Funeral services were held Tuesday from Bonthron Funeral Home at 1 p.m., conducted by the Rev. John Huether of Zurich. Burial was in Hensall Union cemetery. Pallbearers were Delbert Geiger, Ivan Kalbfleisch, Ivan Youngblut, Leroy O'Brien, Dr. H. H. Cowen and Donald Joynt. Fgmondvllle and Hensall United Churches and our own members and friends were welcomed by Our president, Mrs. Robert Elgie. Mrs, John. Sinclair and Mrs.. Arlo $innendyk presented the special worship service. Mrs. Beatric Hess Of Zurich accompanied by Mrs. John Goddard sang two beautiful solos. The Rev. A. J. Mowatt of Wesley -Willis United church, Clinton, greatly enhanced the U.C.W. China Study by his talk and excellent pictures giving as accurate u e a portrayal as is possible of life as it was and now is in China. Mrs, Edison McLean ably thanked the guest speaker and soloist and all those preparing and taking part in the meeting. The hostesses Mrs. Harold Jones and Mrs. Ross Broadfoot had charge of arrangements. Mrs. St. Paul's Guild St. Paul's Friendship Guild met recently in the parish hall with Mrs. Robert Campbell, president, in charge, Reports were given by Mrs. Gus Boussey, secretary, and Mrs. F. Radley, treasurer. An invitation was accepted to attend' a special program sponsored by St. Thomas Guild in Seaforth Tuesday. At the close of the meeting, lunch was served and a 'social hour held. The group meets again Wednesday to plan for_ catering the Masonic Lodge •Ladies' Night.
