AV Window A►d esse'Easter Shirley e. , . eller Generally, .11 don't have a pught in the world about this lumn when I sit down to write Maybe that's because I'm sy, maybe because I'm tle-brained br maybe because ust don't .like to think about ings in advance. At any rate, my ' usual rocedure is to get the paper in e .typewriter, sit back and fink for a half hour (or less if m lucky) and then start miring the thoughts of my Ole mind onto a sheet. This week it is different. This eek I know what I want to say it I don't know how to say it. hat's the truth, You see, I don't want to be ppant about this subject. I bn't want to make jokes about y husband or my teenage son my baby. I don't want to find ult with government or praise izabeth Taylor, Not this week, For Sunday will be Easter, td that is something special in y books. It is a time for some ber thinking so I want to write Drds which are profound without sounding like a sermon, and that's a pretty difficult thing to do. I don't want to leave the impression that. I think you're all wet if you have gone out to shop for a new Easter outfit. In fact, there is a new Easter suit and hat hanging in my closet right now, I wouldn't want you to think I thought it was wrong to color Easter eggs and hide candy in bunny nests for the kids. That can be great fun for everyone, young and old. It isn't my intention to abolish Easter dinner or Easter parades or Easter songs like that dopey little ditty, "Here Cornes Peter Cottontail." And I love Easter lilies. T just•wish that all those who read this column would take time out Sunday to go to the church of their choice...or, barring this, pick up a copy of the Holy Bible and read the accounts there of Christ's +death and resurrection. You may be among those who say the Christian church adts as a crutch for people who can't make it through life On their qwn steam. That's your business, but just this once, at Easter -time, read the Passion Story and the Easter Story from stem to stem with an open mind. You may be surprised at the peace you will find there, My son made an observation the other clay, He predicted that in 30 years, the Christian church would be extinct because no one will be left who will believe the age-old scriptures. What a sad situation that would be! Then Easter would become nothing more than lilies and eggs and ham and hats and bunnies and three .days off. But this year, Easter is still kept as a holy day by Christians around the world, Just for the heck of it, why not get up a couple of hours earlier and go to church, Let the Easter message penetrate those barriers you've erected and just see if you don't feel better for the rest of the day. A blessed Easter to one and all. wilding permifs back to normal continued From Page 1) at water can be provided, wage disposed of and roads ctended without serious ' 'oblems, Mayor Symons also said "it is iportant to the town (while e zoning- bylaw is being afted) that we know if a rson intends to put up a barn a residential area where we )n't want it." He said these oblems have to be worked out mehow in the interim period fore bylaws are on the books. Both the planning board and council bemoaned the fact that some people start on construction work before obtaining permits and reminded property owners that permits are to be obtained before work starts and, preferably, before commitments are made to buy materials and before money is spent on the project. Gus Boussey, secretary - treasurer of the planning board added the board's feeling that development is welcomed "with open arms" and Councillor Proctor said the town doesn't want to delay anyone's plans unduly, but must try to control building "because the people want an orderly town." The meeting ended with Councillor Harold Lobb asking that everyone cooperate and forget the "hard feelings" resulting from the misunderstanding. The meeting ended with suggestions that the "hard feelings" be forgotten and harmony restored. In other business, the council approved purchase of a used street sweeper from C. Tone Equipment in Ayton, Ont. The 10 -year old machine, said to be in better shape than the one lost in last fall's public works shed fire cost $2,700. Dave Ball, public works foreman, assured council that stumps of trees recently cut will be removed as soon as weather conditions permit.
