NORMAN LONG The theme of the Kippen , U.C.W. meeting. was "Brotherhood" with the worship service conducted by Mrs. Edison McLean, emphasizing the richness of our world with the varied peoples and races. We fall far short of God's plan that we have mutual respect and opportunity for all. Mrs. Robert Eigie conducted the business with the various reports being given. Approval was given for the purchase of a projector and screen for the use of the U.C.W. and Sunday School. A skit presented by Mrs. Robert Elgie, Mrs. Edison McLean and Mrs. Ron McKay emphasized the need for understanding of other faiths and a strengthening of our own Christian faith, Group discussion questioned our real concern for World Brotherhood. Mrs. Gerald Moffatt brought a warm St. Patrick's touch with a medley of Irish songs. Mrs. Arie Binnendy, expressed courtesy remarks and the ,hostesses Mrs. Bert Faber and Mrs. Gerald Moffatt served attractive St. Patrick's refreshments. Plans were made for the April meeting when Dr. Andrew Mowatt will be the guest speaker. Mr. Hobert Thomson his nephew Mr. Lloyd and Mrs. Thompson of Exeter visited Sunday with Mrs. Sid Thompson a patient in Stratford General Hospital. Mr. and Mrs Ross Carter, Jimmie and Donald of EsSe,t, recently visited Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Hood. Mr, and Mrs. Dave Triebner and Mn and Mrs. bonald Brodie of $rucefield, returned home last week from spending a two Week's vacation in Florida. Early goals against a strong Renfrew team Monday night, but as play progressefl. into the third period, superior skating and shooting earned the visitors a 4-2 .decision. :Steve Cook . and Raymond Burns scored in the first period for Clinton. Over the weekend, the Fee Wees played host to a group of St. Sebastian Pee Wees from Dearborn, Mich, Recreation Director, Harvey Snelling, and eight parents travelled with the boys for their first trip outside their local :Dearborn league. The highlight of the weekend was the visit to Goderich's Young Canada Tournament where both the local team and visitors watched the AA and A finals and a Saturday afternoon exhibition game between Winnipeg and Waterloo, Quebec. On Saturday' morning, Adastral Park invited the Dearborn boys out for a game at CFB Clinton.. The score ended up 121 ,for the Adastral Park Pee ' Wees with Steve Poceta scoring for Dearborn. In an evening game in town, the ,local Pee Wees won easily 14-t over tlfeir visitors. Clinton scorers were Steve, Cook (4), Raymond .Burns (3), Greg Holmes (3), Doug Fawcett, Clare Colquhoun, David Counter and Neil Colquhoun. Again, Steve Poceta scored the Ione. Dearborn goal. Hensall gave the Local Midgets a real battle in Clinton's 7-6 win in the second game of the Saturday night doubleheader. • This game was arranged to present the trophies to the outstanding players in the Midget teams and replaced a game which was to be held, during Minor Hockey Weekend when ' bad weather forced 'its cancellation. The game star, winner of the Don Yeo Memorial Trophy, Gary Cummings, led ,the way With two goals. Others were netted .py Berry Edgar (2), Bill Boussey, Richard Paulin and .Dave Fawcett. Hensall tied the score at 6.6: midway through the second Period, .kilt Fawcett and Bill Crawford set up Barry Edgar.for the winner 11 seconds IateL Clinton's goalie, David Slade, presented the Slade IGA Trophy to Al Corbett of Hensall for his star rating in .the game, GIRL$' HOCKEY In semi-finals, the Tulips topped the Snowdrops 2.1, with Ruth Ann Neilans and Brenda Smith scoring for the Tulips and Beverly Edgar for the Snowdrops. The Violets edged the Daffodils 2.1 in overtime, with Kathy McPherson netting both the Violet goals and Carol Colquhoun scoring for the Daffodils.
