Hogmen want GFO,

the Ontario Hog Producers
Association in Toronto. M.
Love took the place of Alfred
Warner of RR 2, Bayfield, a
member of the . Hog Producers
Marketing Board and an
association representative for
Goderich Township,
Other Huron representatives
in eluded; Usborne, Bill
Cudmore; Hay, Keith Love,
Lionel Wilder; Stanley, Malcolm
Davidson, Gordon Hill; Hullett,
Lloyd Stewart and McKillop,
Bob McMillan, Bill Dalton and
George Campbell,
More than 500 delegates
representing almost every
township in Ontario attended
the convention at which four
resolutions were unanimously
adopted by delegates fro Zone 6
which takes in Huron, Bruce
and Grey Counties.
One resolution urges that
both the Ontario Farmers'
Union and ' the Ontario
Federation of Agriculture be
"scrapped" in favor of a new
general farm organization with a
new name.
Malcolm Davidson, district
delegate and leader of a new
general farm organization
committee in Ontario, told the
group that hog producers will be
polled this spring on the matter
of a general ,farm organization.
The ballots will go out to hog
producers in May or June,
according to Mr. Love.
Other resolutions urged
greater expenditures for
promotion of pork and pork
products; asked that all
imported pork be labeled with
its grade and point of origin and
that no pork be imported at
pried lower than those received
by the producers, plus the cost
of processing and distributing in
the case of pork products.
White pelicans
nest in north
White pelicans nest on some
craggy islands in the Lake of the
Woods and migrate south each
fall spending their winters along
the Gulf coast. One young bird
was banded near Big Island,
Lake of the Woods, by fish and
wildlife officers of the
departnterit of lands and forests
• at Kendra+on July 6, 1965. Over
two years later, in December
1967, this bird was discovered
dead bee a "resident of Union
Hidalgo; a town_ near the Gulf of
Tehuantepec in southern
Mexico, and the band number
was reported to the authorities.
Notification of this band
recovery was recently received at
the Kenora District office of the
department, thus completing the
cycle. A total of 111 white
pelicans were banded by lands
and forests Kenora staff during
the past summer. Since the
inception of the programme, in
1964, 238 pelicans have been
banded.

International Limited has taken
occupancy of Hangar No, 1 at
Centralia Industrial Park,
This coinpany, under an
agreement with Inland Systems
Incorporated of Springfield,
Ohio, has acquired all Canadian,
' rights, designs and specificatiops
for "Inland Homes'' as well as
all the necessary equipment for
the new manufacturing
operation at Centralia Industrial
Park. This new plant will be
supervised by expert technical
personnel.
The company will produce
factory -engineered high quality
houses developed in the United
States over a period of years.
They consist basically of a
timber shell and aluminum
siding. All components are made
in the factory and delivered to
`the building site in a single 40
foot trailer,

will require two separate
applications and may increase
the cost; but this may be ,
profitable if better weed control
and higher yields are obtained.

herbicide combinations have •
been around six bushels per acre
higher than with the use of
single herbicide applications.
The predominant weeds in
our test areas have been
pigweed, lamb's -quarters,
smartweed, ragweed, black
nightshade, purslane, crabgrass,
foxtail, barnyard grass, and old
witchgrass,
