BY MRS, MAUI HF:DDEN The origin .of mottos was the subject presented by Mrs. Robert Simpson at the Home Economics and Health meeting of Hensall Women's Institute Wednesday, March 12, in the Legion Hall. Many illustrations Were given in Scottish tongue and then translated. Readings were contributed by Miss M. Elgie and Mrs. Myryrue tle Sherritt. gold cord awards Obituary BY SANDRA SINKER The annual CFB Clinton Mother and Daughter Banquet of Rangers, Guides and Brownies was held recently. Fresh spring flowers and Guiding motiffs decorated the dining haII. Debbie Braid said the grace and Ann Wride gave the toast to the Queen. Mrs. Anne Wilkinson, district commisioner introduced the head table guests and the Guiders and thanked the leaders for their support over the year. She then thanked all those, including the fathers who served the delicious meal, who helped to make the dinner a success. Convenor was Mrs. Vicki Knight. A toast to the mothers, proposed by Christine Lince, was given a gracious reply by Mrs. Marg. Lince. On behalf of the district, Mrs. Wilkinson presented Miss Mary MacMillan, division commissioner, with a gift for valuable services rendered over the last nine years. HION ST CLINTON PHONE 4828484 E. G. RYCKMAN Mr. E. Grant Ryckman of RR 1, Hensall, died in South Huron Hospital, Exeter, last Thursday. He was 94 years old. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. T. J. (Myrtle) Sherritt, Hensall and Elizabeth Case, Exeter; a son, Mervyn, of Flint, Michigan; six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. One son, Roy, died in 1956. Mrs. Ryckman passed away about 20 years ago. Funeral services were held from Bonthron Funeral Home, Hensall, last Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Harold F. Currie. Burial was in McTaggart's Cemetery. Pallbearer were: Don, Grant, Jim and Doug Case and Irwin and Lynne Ryckman. PERSONALS Mr. and Mrs. J. L. McCloy and family, Don Mills, were weekend visitors with Mrs. George Hess, the latter's mother. and left Sunday to vacation its the Laurentians. Harry Shorthouse, Alex Shorthouse and son Earl, St. Catharines, visited last week with Herb Hedden. 9.; 1iArnold Westlake of . R.R.1 Cromarty, was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph's Hospital, London last Friday evening for treatment of a hip fracture. He received the injury when he slipped and fell on soft snow. Mr. Westlake underwent surgery Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Laird Mickle returned last Friday from a 10 -day vacation in Bermuda. They flew from Toronto and stayed at the lovely Bermudiana Hotel in Hamilton, the capital. While there they toured the Islands and had a boat trip up to Somerset. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Randall. and family, visited over the weekend with relatives in Hamilton. Mr. Melville Traquair who has been a patient in South Huron Hospital returned home Thursday of last week. Mrs. A.
