Trinity ladies' guild holds annual meeting The annual meeting of Trinity Church Ladies Guild was held at the home of Mrs. R. J. Larson recently. The meeting was opened with prayer, by the Reverend E. J. B. Harrison. Roll call was answered with eight members present. The business report showed a very satisfactory balance at the end of the year. The treasurer, Mrs. Merton Merner, said that the additional silverware and dishes ordered for the parish hall have been received. The president, Mrs. L. B. Smith, thanked the guild members for their help and cooperation during the past year. She then asked the rector to preside for the election of officers, 1969 officers are: president, Mrs. L. B. Smith; first ACW plans card party The January meeting of the Anglican Church Women was held at the home of Mrs. R. J. Larson last Thursday. Mrs. E. Earl gave the treasurer's report. Twenty-nine dollars was given for the self denial fund. Through the year, $501.62 was collected and $377.85 spent, leaving' e balance of $123.77. Mrs. F. A. Clift reported that through the year 22 cards and six bunches of flowers were sent to the sick. It was decided to send $25 to the Anglican Women's Training College. A bridge and euchre will be given tomorrow at the Parish Hall. Admission will be 50 cents. The World Day of Prayerwill be held at Trinity Church on March 7. The closing prayer was led by Mrs. Higgins. vice president, Mrs, W. E. Parker; second vice president, Mrs. R. Roy Fitzsimons; secretary, Mrs. Lloyd Scotchmer; treasurer, Mrs. Merton Merner; card and flower convenor, Mrs. Percy Weston and visiting committee, Mrs. R. J. Larson and Mrs. Fred Weston. R was decided to hold the next meeting in the Parish Hall Tuesday, February 11. There will be a short business ineeting and a social evening with all members bringing guests. The meeting was closed by the Rector, followed by a social hour with refreshments served by the hostess, assisted by Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Weston. Board votes to hold fair on weekend Bayfield Fair Board held its annual meeting in the Municipal Building last Thursday. Officers for 1969 are: president, Grant Stirling, first vice president, Ted Dunn; second• vice president, Robert Taylor and directors, Mrs. R. Taylor, Allen Betties, Tom Penhale, Fraser Stirling, Orville McClinchey, Harold Penhale, Everett Mclllwain, Fred McClymont and Adam Flowers. Secretary treasurer is Robert Stirling and auditors are J. Sturgeon and G. Bellchamber. Committee reports showed a very successful 1968 Fall Fair and the treasurer's report showed a good balance in hand. A lengthy discussion took place on the possibility of the .1969 Fall Fair being held on a Friday Vnd'Situtday. Yie'v6tre wed taken and found to be in faavour. R. Dickie, Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Monteith, Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Evans, all of London, Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Monteith, Preston, and Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Cohoe of Lake Orion, Michigan. Mr. and Mrs. E. Weston, who have spent over a month with their son and family in London, have returned to take up permanent residence at the Albion Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. Robbie and Mr. Moss, London, visitors with Mr. Bob Cluff and and Mrs. Paul were weekend and Mrs. Fred LeBeau. • Mrs. George Doerr and Kevin, Mitchell, visited Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Hovey on Sunday. Correction — The Lions Ladies Night will be on Friday, Febr-lary 28, not the 24th as was previously reported. Mrs. Jack Sturgeon spent the weekend in Toronto with her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Stuegeon. On Sunday she attended a reception in honour of her sister and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Knight .on their 40th wedding annh ersary. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Parker visited their sons and families in Dorchester and London over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Alf Scotchmer celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on Friday with a family dinner party, and later, a family gathering at their home. Out of town guests with them for the weekend were, Mr. and Mrs. Jim McLeod, Toronto, and Miss Lynn Brown, London. Blyth news BY GAIL FALCONER Mrs. Ann Sundercock, chairman of the Blyth March of Dimes Campaign, reported that $290.30 was collected from the area this year. The marching mothers canvassed the village, starting Monday and finishing Thursday evening. The donations this year showed an increase over the $259.55 received last year. Fourteen mothers of the children taking figure skating lessons in Blyth met last week to decide what kind o,f "achievement day" could be arranged for the youngsters. Due to having only recently joined the figure skating _association, a carnival cannot be arranged for this year, In its place, a review will be held on March 23, so the parents can see what their Children have learned. People usually have ears shut to advice and eye § open tO example. Obituary JOSEPH MILLER Joseph Miller, 85, of Blyth died in Huronview, Clinton, last Thursday. A widower, he is survived by three sons, Edward of Windsor, Lloyd of London and Gordon of Auburn; one daughter, Mrs. Paul (Marie) Schlick of Peterborough, and a sister, Mrs. Evelyn Zeigler of Goderich. Funeral services were held at the Tasker Memorial Chapel, Blyth, on Saturday With Mr. C. F. Barney of the Clinton Jehovah's Witnesses officiating. Temporary interment was in the Myth Cemetery Chapel.
