In their first encounter on

Steve Cook showed the

Poor driving conditions kept
Wingham's Midgets team home
last Saturday evening, so the
Clinton `Minor Hockey Day
Committee put together a team
of "oldtimers", town leaguers,
Colt Intermediate players and
Midgets visiting from Dearborn,
Mich.
Despite some comic moments
the game was a well -played affair
and most of the fans stayed to
the finish to see the Oldtimers
pull the game out on a goal by
Dave McConnell with only 45
seconds left.
Dave, an employee of the
Bank of Montreal, fired a hard
shot past David Slade.
Glen Irwin and Gary
Cuninings scored 40 seconds
apart to give the Midgets an
early 2.0 lead.
Danny Colquhoun flopped on
top of Irwin, but Glen hooked
the puck into the het. Danny

During the first period, Brian

both had quite a time

At the 10 -minute mark of the
second period, Clinton
Recreation Director
"Chiefy" Andrews entered the
game and was greeted by a
thunderous roar from the young
crowds.
And what happened his first
time on the ice? --he broke his
stick over Brian Edgar's shins
and sharp-eyed Gus Boussey sent
Andrews to the "sin bin" for a
three:minute rest.
With John Anstett sitting out
a three-minute penalty, Mike
Frakas scored the .0ldtimers'
first goal. Again the Midgets
went ahead on a beautiful hard
slap shot at 16:00 of the third
period. Two quick goals, by
Chuck Andrews and Newt
Collins, tied up the game before
McConnell scored the winner.
The Midget trophies, the Don
