The second and third periods were all skating. Both Clubs had many excellent chances to score, with Clinton outscoring Crediton by 4 to 1 in the second. Don Martin scored unassisted at 3;36 to give Clinton the lead. The next goal, by Laurie Colquhoun, was a beauty. Don McDougall rushed up the centre and put a perfect pass op BUD BOYES Colquhoun's stick. Harvey Dale netted Clinton's fifth goal on a weird play. Dale had four successive rebounds bounce back to him on a single play. Finally, as the Crediton goalie, Tom Glavin, went down to recover the puck, Dale was able to slip it under:him. As the period was ending, Boyes scored one of his frequent goals from behind the . net. Boyes' long reach seems to fool the goalies. Before they can skid across the net, Boyes has the puck in. In the third period Crediton was really flying. At 2:36, Jim Morrissey beat Black on a quick wrist shot. ' Three Clinton penalties — at 7:25, 8:46 and 9:42 — almost spelled disaster. Up to that point in the game, Clinton had three penalties, two minor for tripping and one at five minutes on Hal Flaro` for fighting in the first period. The Clinton checkers, Boyes, Livermore and Draper, killed off three straight minutes of penalties and finally, at 10:23, Ken Fraser was left alone in front of the net as a rebound came right to hint. , With the score closed up to 6-5, Crediton began to put the pressure on. Black was outstanding in making three or four key saves before Crediton picked up two penalties on one play at 17:16.
