The accident happened on Highway .4, 21/2 miles south of Blyth. John Joseph Heffron, Blyth, was driving the other car. He was not injured. Damage was estimated at $1,900. Adastral Park Protestant Chapel Guild names new executive By MR$. SANDRA SINKER At the January meeting of ,the Protestant Ladies' Chapel Guild attended by 29 members, Padre G. Youmatoff gave an interesting devotional, using the biblical reference of Deacons as a comparison to the ladies of the church.. Mrs. Norma Wade played the piano during the singing of two hymns.. A, short business meeting was conducted at which time Mrs. Mary Cournoyer thanked the outgoing executive members for their time and energy during the past year and she also thanked the members for their kind support which enabled the guild to enjoy a successful year. The nominating committee was thanked and Padre Youmatoff conducted the elections. Mrs. Rita Ryan was made an Honourary President at this time: The new executive includes: honourary presidents, Mrs. Florence Youmatoff and Mrs. Rita Ryan; president, Mrs. Mary Cournoyer; vice-president, Mrs. Helen Beale; secretary, Mrs. Judy Maclnnis; treasurer, Mrs. Joan Pennimpede; hospitality, Mrs. Joyce Hatten; publicity, Mrs. Edith Motomura and group leaders, Mrs. Barbara Reaume, Clinton woman off to New Zealand The Reverend R. U. MacLean, one of dozens of friends who contributed to a going -away gift for Florence Wood of Clinton when she left recently to join her daughter in New Zealand, has received a thank -you note written when Mrs. Wood stopped to see her son in Scarborough. "Hi coffee -drinking friends", it says, "A few lines to thank you most sincerely for the lovely card and gift. It was such a (surprise and I shall keep the card to remind me of so many in Clinton,, , "I miss the friendly way you people all have in Clinton and hope I find the same friendly gestures in New Zealand." Miss Nancy Anderson, of Stratford Teachers' College, with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Anderson. Mr. and Mrs, Johm R. Weir and Mrs. Elsie Eustace of London with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Stiles. Charles Beadle, of London, spent the weekend at his home. the piano. A reading was given by Mrs. Kirkconnell. The devotional period was taken by Mrs. Thomas Haggitt and Mrs. John Daer, The New Year's message was ably given 'by Mrs. Ed Davies. Several piano selections were given by Mrs. R. J. Philips. The president, Mrs. Thomas Haggitt, led the business period. The minutes of the previous meeting were read by the secretary, Mrs. John, Daer and the treasurer, Mrs. Hrkconnell, gave the yearly report, showing a favourable balance. Thank you notes were read from the members who had received Christmas flowers. A get well message was signed by those present for a member, Mrs. S. Daer, who is a patient in Clinton Hospital. Mrs. Thomas Haggitt closed the meeting with prayer. Following an auction, a delicious lunch was served by Mrs, Kirkconnell assisted by Mrs. Donald Cartwright. Obituary MRS. DAVID DOW Mrs. Jas. T. Craig has received the sad news of the death in Toronto of her sister-in-law, Mrs. David Dow, formerly Minnie Craig. Mrs. Dow was born at St. Augustine, Ontario, where she spent her girlhood and was the daughter of the late Mr, and Mrs. John Craig. Following her • marriage to David Dow, (who passed away five years ago), they lived in Wingham and then moved to Toronto. • She is survived by two daughers, Mrs. Harry (Wilma) Brawley, of Toronto, and Mrs. Ben (Nettie) Oulton, of Sault Ste. Marie. The funeral was in Toronto and burial in Woodbridge Cemetery. COLONEL RYAN CONGRATULATES. LILUTENANT-eCOLUNEL WARNER Decorations go to radar school C.O., two others at base decorations for more than two decades of meritorious service were presented recently to three officers at Canadian Forces Base Clinton. Col. E. W. Ryan, base commander, made the presentations. The three are Lt. Col. O. E. Warner, commanding officer of the radar and communications school at the Clinton base; Maj. H. Wach, base comptroller and Warrant Officer J. G. Macdonald, a .dental technician. Lieutenant Colonel Warner is 'a native of Aylsham, Sask. Major Wach hails from Winnipeg, Man. Warrant Officer Macdonald is a native of Charlottetown, P.E,I, All three received clasps to their Canadian Forces Decorations, marking completion of 22 years' meritorious service apiece. MAJOR H. Roll call was answered by paying membership fees. Thank you cards were read from shut-ins. Quite a large donation of mitts and slippers is being sent to the children's shelter. The general meeting will be held on Monday evening. Mrs. John Armstrong opened the programme period with prayer and a hymn, followed by a poem, "New Year's Thoughts,” A new year prayer was read by Mrs. Scott. Mrs. B. Allen gave the notes on China and a.closing prayer. Mrs. Durnin and Mrs. Gourley will have the programme for February. A social cup of tea was enjoyed at the close. PERSONALS Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Cook, 44 Mary Street. Mrs. Don MacDonald gave the scripture reading and Mrs. Lloyd Carter led the group in prayer. Then Mrs. R. U. MacLean read an inspiring message titled: "The Future is Now," The outgoing secretary, Mrs. Viola Lampman, read the minutes of the last meeting and handed the book over to her successor, Mrs. R. B. Rudd. Roll call was answered by "how you spent Christmas." The treasurer's annual report showed that 1968 was "very successful" for the auxiliary. The auxiliary members were informed that a telephone has been installed in the church and a first aid kit is being assembled by Mrs. E. J. (Dick) Jacob to be placed in the Sunday School room. While a slight decrease after Centennial year, this amount is above that received in 1966, according to the District Office in London. One hundred fifty-five communities in the area contributed to the total of $88,259.32, The largest branch is the City of London with $20,084.49, followed by Windsor with $5,436.12 and Sarnia with $4,111.95, Local tallies show the following 1968 contributions, with 1967 figures in parentheses; Auburn, $26$.78 0511,12); Bayfield. $362.65 ($279); Blyth, $613 ($670,50); Brucefield, $10$.95 ($113,40); Clinton, $488.29 ($562,49); Hensall, $20 ($168,05); Kippen, $95,50 ($84,50); Lendeslaoro, $136 ($129.80; ,Seaforth, $206,05 ($131.32) apd Varna and Goshen, $160.22 ($161.60).
