Kincardine scored two goals to Clinton's one in the first period, to take an early lead. Butch Murney blasted a hard shot at 7:10 of the first period to open the scoring. In the second period, Bud Boyes tied the score at 5:20, assisted by Murney and Dale. Harvey Dale scored his first goal of the game at 12:16 of the second period in a passing play with Bud Boyes. Dale scored three consecutive goals in the third period, assisted by Bud Boyes on two of them, and Don McDougall on the fourth goal. The final goal by Don Martin was a beautiful effort, Martin, looking like Henri Richard on one of his famous rushes, decked three men to be in the open and fired to the short side. Bud Boyes was serving a five-minute penalty for fighting at the time of Martin's goal. Seconds later Martin was involved in a scrap with No. 4, Shewfelt. Although Shewfelt was easily a foot taller than Martin, Martin showed he can handle himself in a tussle. Gary Black played an outstanding game in the net, making some fabulous saves in the second and third periods. On the other hand, Don McDougall was everywhere, but couldn't find openings in the opposition's net. Don missed, three breakaways and on two other occasions hit the goal posts. Score by. A crowd of about 125 to 150 turned out for the game which was originally slated for 7:30 p.m. and then moved up too late for announcements. At the end of the first period, Shelburne had five goals and the early lead, 5-3. Robbie Farquhar replaced Garry Black in the nets late in the first period and 'played a good back-up game. Clinton's high-scoring line of Livermore, Dale and Boyes were united for the first time this season and each played a big role in the win.
