• With the return of Bob
Livermore, Paul Draper and
Randy Clew to the lineup, the
Clinton Intermediates had more
scoring punch and earned a 7-7
tie with the Elora Rocks. The
game was played in Elora last
Tuesday evening and thus was
the first time for the Colts to
play the new entry from that
town,
The lack • of conditioning
showed up in the third period.
After Clinton built up a 7-4 lead,
Elora scored two quick goals at
11;35 and 11:45. Then with
Randy Glew serving a
cross-checking penalty,. Elora's
No. 10, L. Drone, scored this
third goal of the game to give
Elora the seven needed to tie.
In the lineup for their first
game of the year were Bob
Livermore, Paul Draper, Randy
Glew and newcomer Bill Weber,
a local high school teacher.
Livermore scored four goals,
three in the second, two of them
set up by defenceman Fred
Parsons, the other unassisted. In
the first period, Don McDougall
scored the first goal of the game
on a pass from Malt Edgar.

Lost a tire ?
Clinton police are holding
several items found in town
recently and ask that the owners
claim them as soon as possible.
Two of the items are tricycles
which Chief Lloyd Westlake
feels sure some youngster must
miss by now. They were turned
in at'the end of October.
Also being held is a 7.60 x 15
snow tire and wheel found
November 24 and a women's
black clutch purse containing a
small amount of cash and found
near A and A Variety November
30.

Paid Draper completed a nice
passing play from Randy Clew
at 13:25 to even the score 2-2.
Then Livermore scored his first
goal of the game at 14;29,
banging in a rebound on A shot
from Betch Murney. Paul Draper
rounded out. Clinton's scoring at
6:38 of the third period.
The. Kincardine Bulldogs had
too much manpower in their.
Sunday afternoon game with the
Colts. Jim Ball, an ex-Goderich
Junior, scored on the opening
faceoff, then added two more in
the first period to give
Kincardine an early 4-1 lead.
Paul Draper scored at 10:35
on a pass from Bill Weber.
Clinton closed the gap to 4;3
early in the second period on a
hard shot from the blueline by
Fred Parsons and beautiful wrist
shot 10 feet out by Bill Weber.

Agriculture
federation
The president of an Ontario
Farmers' Union group was
among six men elected to the
board of directors of the Huron
County Federation of
Agriculture at a meeting in
Londesboro last week.
The OFU leader picked for
the board seat is James Martin,
RR 6, Goderich, oresident of the
Ashfield OFU local. The Huron
federat'on also approved a
resolution that fanners in the
county continue to work toward
one general farm organization.
Others elected to the board
were Thomas Cunningham, RR
1, Auburn; Elmer Hunter, HR 3,
Goderich; Mason Bailey, AR 3,
Blyth; Lloyd Bond, RR 3,
Clinton; James Martin, RR 6,
Goderich and Bob Broadfoot,
RR 1, Brucefield.
Mr. Hunter is President of the
federation, Bob Henry of Blyth,
first vice president arid Mr.
Cu nnirigharn, second vice
president. Mrs. Faye Fear -of RR
5, Brussels, was reappointed
secretary-treattirer.

In their first game of the
season, the Clinton Ponies lost
3.1 to a very good team from
Blyth. Clinton's lone score...was a
solo effort by Jamie Thompson
on a breakaway.
For many of the boys this was
their first organized game .and
inexperience was. evident
through the game.
For the . Blyth team,
ex-Clinton star Ricky Cameron
played an outstanding game,
scoring the first and last goals
for his team.
Both goals were set up by
Randy Miller who was the Kin
Trophy winner for being leading
scorer in the Clinton Kinsmen
Town League last year. Blyth's
second goal was netted by Larry
Carter.

Three auto accidents, neither
involving any injuries or
extensive damage, were
investigated by Clinton police
last week.
The first occurred November
26 on Rattenbury Street near
the Anglican Church, police said.
In that mishap, an auto driven
by Elizabeth Stevens of 373
James Street, Clinton,
reportedly struck a parked car
owned by Mitchell McAdam of
149 Princess Street West.
The accident took place
about 9 p.m. Damage to the
Stevens car was estimated at
$150. The McAdam auto
reportedly sustained $300
damage.
On November 28, about 3
p.m., two cars collided at
Victoria and William Streets.
Drivers were identified as Ann
Noonan of 176 Huron Street,
Clinton, and Thomas E, O'Neill
of RR 3, Goderich. Mr, O'Neill
was later charged with careless
driving. police say his car
damage totalled about $800,
that to the Noonan car, about
$200.
Charges are pending while
police continue to investigate an
accident on Joseph Street

Bank earnings
An increase of 30 percent in
Bank of Montreal net operating
earnings highlights the bank's
151st annual statement, for the
fiscal year ended October 31,
just issued. New high records
were also set in assets, loans and
deposits.
Bank of Montreal assets
reached $6.8 billion, with an
increase of $732 million, or 11.2
percent, over 1967:
Balance of revenue,
commonly called net operating
earnings, amounted to a record
$67,699,427, an increase of
$15,760,453 over 1967. Viewed
by many financial analysts as the
best measure of the effectiveness
of the bank's performance, these
earnings were 30.3 percent over
1967 and represented $2.23 per
share compared with $1.71 per
share last year.
