Safe driving
eek.
Vlore than nine percent of
--traffic fatalities result from
mechanical failure in•
automobiles and almost all such
failures are due. to. negligence on
the part, of -the owner or driver.
In sponsoring Safe-Driving
Week, December 1 to 7, the
Canada Safety Council states
that drivers have a moral
responsibility to keep their cars
in safe driving condition, both
for their own safety and thet of
others.
Regular checks should be
made of tires, steering
'equipment, exhaust system,
brakes and' lights. Windows and
Mirrors should be kept clean.
Tires. in particular, can be a
hazard if they are allowed to
become worn. Bald tires
seriously reduce control of the
car and are fir more likely to
split or blow out under impact.
