Parishioners,of' St. Joseph's
Roman Catholic Church in
Clinton began reflection group
meetings this week ea part of the
Seemid Phase of Renewal '09,
project of the London diocese,
"The best gathering I ever
attended in my life, Was, a
SPonteneous reaction of an
18-year old youth in Ridgetown
after his first reflection group
meeting, This was a typical
reaction- of young people and
adults who exchanged insights
with. Qne another last Sunday
evening, .as Roman Catholics and
many persons of other faiths,
reflected on their lives in terms
of their beliefs.
"A new spirit of
understanding," Father Joe
Primeau, director of the project
said, "is bound to develop. The
sessions, which bring together
small groups of a dozen or more
people, will allow individuals to
find out how other people think,
how they react, what are their
,difficulties and goals in life,"
Father Wally Anthony,
co-director of Renewal '69
Added: "Not only will the clergy
Obtain feedback and so gain the
point of few of the PersOil in the
congregation, but it ,is. going to
deepen and improve human
understanding among all of us in
the church, Communication is
necessary for understanding and
knowledge,"
Among the questions that
will be reflected on in the
second meeting include: "How
can young people be persuaded
not to marry early?" How have
you formed your censcience if
you have not read Pope Paul's
recent encyclical? Have you read
the Canadian Bishops statement
on the recent encyclical? What
do you consider a more-or-lesi
ideal family relationship? How
much consultation should there
be in arriving at decisions, how
much give and take? Sould
children have a voice too? can
religion be "learned" at school?
Do homes for the aged
contribute to the
communications breakdown by
encouraging "ghettos of age?"
