lacrosse night
in Canada?'
Lacrosse, described by some
as the roughest and fastest team
game in the world, is moving
from the boondocks to become
a red-blooded, all Canadian sport
that may soon attract
investment money.
Michael IrVieg says in The
Financial Post that .a mix of
hockey promoters, lacrosse fans,
fitness experts, lawyers,
businessmen, advertising
executives and sports
announcers are maldng an all-out
attempt to introduce the game
to major hockey arenas in
Canada and the U.S. during the
summer months.
Then, they hope, The
Financial Post writer says, that
Lacrosse Night in Canada will
quickly claim television ratings
as popular as Hockey Night in
Canada during the winter
months.
By making haste slowly, The
Financial Post 'says the
promoters hope they will attract
live coverage by major television
networks, breed a race of
lacrosse super-stars, and go on to
win millions of big-city fans with
their year-old professional
ladrosse league.
