Mrs. Carmann Tebbutt, social convenor, gave the list of new committees for the November 13 bazaar. It was decided to visit Huronview early in December. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs. J. Grigg, Mrs. William Porter and Mrs. S. Farquhar. Mr. and Mrs. Orville Blake visited recently with friends in Northern Ontario. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cudmore and sons of Hamilton were Thanksgiving guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Cudniore. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Tebbutt and family visited on the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Irvine Tebbutt. Miss Sandra Williams of Burlington spent the holiday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Williams. distinguished Russian-born piano virtuoso Vladimir Horowitz. This was taped last February in New York's Carnegie Hall. It was uninterrupted by commercials, and featured one of Horowitz's own arrangements. "He is the longest and hardest-running performer on Canadian television, whose first appearance coincided with the CBC's first week of TV operations in 1953. The Pierre Berton Show predates CTV--and will probably outlive it." That's what Jon wrote. Does he think that CTV is doomed? You don't really mean that Canadians will be stuck with one network again, do you Jon? * * * One of the new shows took over top spot in the latest National Nielsen ratings. Here is the rundown: 1. The resolutions were presented by the convener, Mrs. Thomas Haggitt. Among the resolutions were the ones on Lake Erie land erosion problem, the ban on the sale of fireworks.. and the car driver and owner who does not carry. insurance brit can obtain his license by the ,payment ot$25. The'rrieeting opened at 1 p.m. with a desseit liincheon served by Mrs. Thomas Haggitt, Mrs. Gordon Powell and Mrs. Charles Scott assisted by Mrs. Arnold Craig. The president, Mrs. Frank Raithby was in charge with Mrs. Gordon R. Taylor at the piano. After the opening exercises, Mrs. Raithby read the poem, "Let us give thanks." The minutes of the previous meeting were adopted as read by the secretary, Mrs. Bert Craig. It was decided to inquire where_ he picnic tables could be stored and Mrs. Thomas§ Haggitt: and Mrs. Gordon Taylor will assist to count the Canada Packer labels and all who have any, please give Ahern to the president as soon as possible. Mrs. Gordon Taylor and Mrs. Bert Craig were named delegates to the Area Convention, Mrs, Leonard Archambault reported on the. Dressmaking course which, she and Mrs. Eldon McLennan had attended and she reported that the first class would be held on October 22nd. Mrs. Andrew Kirkconnell reported for the card committee and read the thank-you notes she had received. Thanksgiving hymn sing was enjoyed with Mrs. Taylor at the piano. Mrs. Thomas Haggitt reported about the Huron County W.I. Rally held recently at Cranbrook. The roll call was answered by naming "A resolution I would like to make." A reading, "We thank Thee" was read by Mrs. Leonard Archambault who also read a Poem- of gratitude. The meeting was opened with a hymn and accompanied on the piano by Doreen McClinchey. Sherry Plaetzer read the scripture lesson folloired by all repeating the Lord's prayer. The offering was received by Marie Plunkett. The following officers were elected. president, Marie Plunkett; Vice-president, Doreen McClinchey; secretary, Shelley Grange; treasurer, Sherry Plaetzer. A discussion took place on what they would like for further programs and crafts. It Fir 'GINGHAM GALS The Auburn Gingham Gals 4-H club held their 7th meeting with the first vice-president, Donna Chamney in charge. The girls discussed plans for Achievement day and answered the roll call on why they chose the material for their dress. Mn,s P. Raithby showed the way to turn up a hem on a flared skirt and Mrs. Bradnock spoke on the different ways to finish their.garinents. decided to have .a program and lunch at the next meeting for a Hallowe'en party. Thankoffering meeting of the Holmesville U, C.W. was held Tuesday, October 8 at 2 p.m. with Mrs. Irvine Tebbutt and her group in charge of the program. Mrs. J. Lobb opened the meeting with quiet music and the call to worship was given by Mrs. I. Tebbutt. The prayer of General Thanksgiving was repeated in unison. Mrs. K. Harris read the Scripture passages and Mrs. C,t Tebbutt the comments and meditation. A vocal duet entitled "Give Thanks" was contributed by Mrs. W. Norman and Mrs. E. Grigg and the chapter of the study book on Japan was reviewed by Mrs., I. Tebbutt. Mrs. E. Grigg presided for the business meeting. The West Huron Regional Rally to be held at Auburn October 25 was announced, also the doll festival of the comedy entitled "Julia". This is about a coloured woman who is a widow with a young son. As a nurse she attempts to secure a position in a large manufacturing plant, This is a good show, but I doubt if it will survive more than one season. Julia is played by Diahann Carroll. The doctor is played by Lloyd Nolan, and the little boy is Marc Copage. * * * Sunday evening I enjoyed the Mr. and - Mrs. Donald Cartwright attended the funeral of their niece Mary Madeline Rueger, at Clinton last Friday. Mr. and Mrs. 'Robert Chamney visited last week with Mr. and Mrs. •Herman Chamney and other relatives in Windsor. Sunday quests with Mrs. Beth Lansing were Mr. and Mrs. Herb Peter of Kincardine, and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Peter, Mary Lou and Brian of Wiarton. was, C.G.I.T. NEWS Mr. and Mrs. Irwin Brown of Oakville were quests of their cousins Mr. and Mrs. Charles Scott over Thanksgiving week-end. Mrs. Ralph Munro spent last week with relatives in Mount Forest. Mr. and Mrs. Roy La Vigne, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Semegen and Shelley and Mr. Charles Semegen, all of Windsor, Mr. John Hamilton and Miss Junia Corcoran of Toronto were week-end quests with the former's daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hamilton. During the week-end Mrs. Hamilton's parents Mr. and Mrs. La Vigne celebrated their golden wedding with wedding cake and gifts presented to the bride and groom of 50 years. On Sunday Mrs. Reta Allison, Mrs. Les Morley and Mrs. Ada McDonald, all of Alsia Craig, called to extend their congratulations. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Youngblut, Susan and Bruce of Toronto spent the week-end with his mother, Mrs. Ralph Munro. Knox United Church will hold it's anniversary service next Sunday October 27th at 11.15 a.m. with Reverend J. Gratton Roberts of Belgrave as quest speaker. The Snell sisters of Londesboro will be the quest singers. Miss Nancy Anderson of Stratford Teachers College also spent the week-end with her parents. Miss Judy Arthur of Owen Sound spent the week-end with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Harry Arthur, Mark and Greg. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Miller visited last Friday with his father Mr. Joseph Miller who is a patient in Victoria hospital. • Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Rollinson are visiting in Toronto with their daughter, Mrs. Alfred Weston and Mr„ Weston. Knox Presbyterian Church is withdrawing their service next Sunday for the Blyth church anniversary when Reverend E. R.
