Miss Betty Marsh of Hamilton spent the holiday with her parents, U. and Mrs, Bert Marsh, Honour students from this' community attending Goderich Collegiate who went last week to Chicago were Ed Haines, Larry Chamney, Betty Moss, Jennifer Grange, Shelley Grange and. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth McDougall and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon' Gross were recent visitors with the Eachern family at Mount Forest.. CONGRATULATIONS Congratulations are extended to Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Bole Duncalfe of Toronto on their recent marriage in Toronto, Mrs. Duncalfe was the former Edna Isabel Archambault and the attendants were her brother Leonard Archambault and Mrs. Archambault of R. R. 1 Auburn. A reception followed at the Park Plaza. Douglas Archambault, Miss Brenda Archambault, Ricky and Marilyn, also Mrs. Bert Craig were also guests. Brightly coloured pictures of Kenya, its; eonntry, its people. and animals told the story along With the narrators mr., and Mrs, Stewart Toll of Windsor in Knox, United Church, Auburn, last Friday evening at their annual Thankoffering meeting, The guests were welcomed by Mrs. M, Roberts and Mr4, Bert Marsh. and were ushered to their seats by Mrs. Robert Turner, Mrs, Myrtle Munro and Mrs, Ena Craig. Mrs. Lawrence Plaetzer gave the call to worship and gave a welcome to all. Mrs. Norman Wightman presided at the piano. Mr. Oliver Anderson led in a hymn sing and a. quintette composed of Misses Nancy Anderson, Klaske .lcoopmans, Brenda East, Jennifer Grange, Shelley Grange and Betty Moss sang two numbers. Mrs, Norman McDowell read the scripture lesson and gave the thanksgiving meditation. Mrs.. Gordon Gross introduced her uncle, the guest speaker and Mrs. Toll who was dressed in a colorful orange African • dress. When Mr. Toll completed' his interesting account of his two years in Kenya on the educational team sent by the Government of Canada, Mr. , William Seers thanked Mr, .and 'Mrs. Toll and on behalf of the church presented Mr. Toil with a Bible. An interesting display of a spear, hunting knife, leopard skin purse and other articles made the life lived there very near to the audience which filled the church to capacity. Mrs, M. R. Roberts, president of the U.C.W., thanked the Toll's for their interesting pictures. The offering was received by Own and Daryl( Ball, Allan McDougall and Ed Haines.. Reverend M. Roberts spoke p few words and pronounced the benediction, A social now was spent in the Sunday school room of the church. 'Among the pictures shown was the bale The monthly meeting of the Waikerburn Club was held last, Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Worthy Young. The president Mrs. Ted Hunking was in charge and opened the meeting with "0, Canada." Mrs. Stewart Ament led in prayer and all joined in "The Lord's Prayer." The minutes were accepted as read by the secretary Mrs. George Schneider and the thank-you notes were read. The roll call was answered by 12 members. The prize donated -by Mrs. • Joe Hunking was -von by Mrs. Elliott Lapp. The members decided to donate to their support of their Korean Foster child and also send a donation to be used as a Christmas gift. The election of officers took place and the results are as follows: president, Mrs. Ted Hunking; vice-president, Mrs. The annual meeting of the Auburn Bible Society was held in Knox United Church with the president, Oliver Anderson, in charge. The meeting was opened by singing the hymn, "What a Friend we have in Jesus." Mr. Anderson read the scripture lesson and Torrance Tabb led in prayer. The minutes of last year's meeting were read by the secretary and accepted. She gave the financial statement showing that $401.12 had been sent in from this branch. Reverend M. R. Plans were made for the next meeting to be held on October 31 at the home of Mrs. Lloyd Penfound in the afternoon. The program will be in charge of Mrs. Walter Cunningham and Mrs. Leonard Archambault. Lunch will be served by Mrs. Worthy Young and Mrs. Lorne Hunking. An interesting program of contests was led by Mrs, Stewart Ament and Mrs. Elliott Lapp. Plans were made to have their annual Baking sale and tea on October 26 at 3 p.m. in the Auburn Community Memorial hall. Lunch was served by Mrs. Worthy , Young, Mrs. Brian Hallam and Mrs. Joe Verwey. Thompson of London to be the guest speaker. Reverend M. R. Roberts gave an interesting and informative message on the early versions of the Bible and' the meeting was closed with the hymn, "Pass me not 0 Gentle Saviour", and the Benediction. Mr. Harry Arthur left last weekend for a fishing trip to Northern Ontario with London friends. PORTER'S MI7, Anniversary service at Grace Church was held Sunday, Sept. 29. The guest minister for the occasion was Rev. Harold Currie of Hensall. Mr. Currie ministered to this congregation from 1940 to 1942 and we were happy to welcome him back for this occasion. The choir under the direction of Mrs. William Cox sang two anthems. The church was beautifully decorated with autumn flowers. Attendance awards for 1967-68 for the Grace Church Sunday School pupils were given out as follows: Third year seal: Mary Jean Betties, Jeff Cox, Marilyn Cox and Bryan Riddell. Sixth year seal: Bob Cox. Eighth year seal: Marie Betties, Jody Cox, Jane Harris, Jim Riddell, Mary Ellen' Sturdy. Ninth year seal: Rodney Cox. Tenth year seal: Kevin Cox.
