Registration for the school began on Friday evening and was in the charge of Miss Barbara Watkins of Londesboro, R.R.1, Junior Provincial Board Director to the Federated Women's Institutes of Ontario. The morning session was in charge of the chairman, Miss Helen Shaw, of Peel County. Program planning was discussed following the address of the guest speaker, Mrs. Elton Armstrong, of Woodstock. The afternoon theme was "Citizenship" with Mrs. Ann Gregory of Perth County in charge, After the flag ceremony, the song "Ontario" was sung and the film, "A Place to Stand", was shown. A contest on the Counties of Ontario was then held by the girls. An Arti-Party followed with ,leaders, Miss Barbara Watkins, Miss Rosemary Clark, Guelph, and Miss Helen Shaw. The groups made party favours, paper flower corsages and large paper flowers. A banquet sponsored by the F.W.1.0. was held at 6 p.m. with the Honourable W. A. Stewart as the guest. Other head-table guests were Miss M. McGee,' assistant director of the Centralia school, Mr. J. A. McDonald, director of the school, Miss Helen McKercher, director of Home Economics for Ontario with the Dept. of Agriculture and Food, Mrs. Everett Small, president ' of `F.W.1.0., Miss Jean Scott, director of extension work, Mrs. Donald McKercher, Dublin; Miss Barbara Watkins, Londesboro and Miss Helen Shaw, chairman. Following the banquet, Mrs. D. McKercher showed pictures of her trip overseas last year .sponScored by the Junior Farmers of Ontario. The evening was then spent idancing with the Junior Farmers of Huron County as hosts. Sunday morning church service was held with Miss Alice Allen of Goderich leading the service. The devotional was taken by Peel County. The election of officers took place and they are as follows: chairman, Doreen Harropp, Halton Company; committee — Sharc.i Passmore, Huron; Jean Jenkins, Elgin; Sue Forth, Wentworth and Sylvia Shaw, Peel. Huron County girls from the Clinton Junior Institute attending were Susan Mitchell, Della Allen, Alice Allen and Catherine 'McIlwain, all of the Goderich district; Helen Good and Barbara Watkins of Londesboro and Sharon Collins of Auburn. Mrs. W. Bradnock of Auburn was a guest at the Saturday banquet. 25TH ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mrs. Donald Haines were pleasantly surprised by relatives last Sunday when they called to observe , their 25th wedding anniversary. Those present were their daughter, Mrs. Ronald , Livermore and Mr. Livermore of Gorrie, her sister, Mrs. Harold Davis and Mr. Davis of Bowansville, New York, also her brother, Mr. Arnold Rathbun and Mrs. Rathbun of Georgetown and her other brother, Mr. Nelson Rathbun and Mrs. Rathbun of Hillsburg. Their son, Ed, was away on the trip to Chicago with honour students from Goderich District High School, 1•• Horticultural Society dower arrangements, corsages and bouquets were demonstrated by Mrs. Oliver '1VIcCharles, Mrs. Cecil Hollands and Mrs. Bert Alton of the Lucknow district at the September meeting of the Auburn Horticultural Society held this week in the Community Memorial hail. The president, Mrs. Gordon R. Taylor, was in charge and welcomed the members and guests. "0 Canada" was sung with Mrs. Robert J. Phillips at the piano, The minutes were accepted as read by the secretary, Mrs, Bert Craig. The financial statement was given by the treasurer, Mrs. W. Bradnock. Mrs. Taylor thanked all who had worked so faithfully on the village flower beds, window boxes and helped paint the letters. She also gave a report of the convention held this summer in Windsor. The guest speakers were introduced by Mrs. Russel Brindley. Arrangements suitable for Easter, Thanksgiving and other special occasions were made and they used many wild flowers and weeds in their displays. A beautiful corsage of rosebuds was pinned on Mrs. Ed Davies for having a birthday nearest that date. Mrs. Arthur Grange thanked the ladies and Mrs. Donald Haines presented them with small gifts. Tickets were drawn and arrangements were given to the lucky winners. A discussion took place about fall bulbs for planting and these can be ordered at Robinson's store. The members decided to turn over the Christmas tree lights to the Village for the Trustees to do what they can with them. Mrs. Donald Haines played a piano solo. Mrs. Harold Nicholson of Seaforth visited last week with her sister, Mrs. W. Bradnock, Sharon and George and her aunt, Mrs. Charles Straughan. Misses Gail Miller and Barbara. Sanderson of Toronto spent the week-end at their home here, Miss Laura Wagner returned to her home at.
