Meetings of Amber Rebekah
Lodge resumed Wednesday,
September 4, when the regular
meeting of the Lodge was held
with Noble Grand, Mrs. John:
Corbett presiding.
The District Deputy
President's report prepared by.
Mrs. Marjorie Broadfoot,
Brucefield, was read disclosing
that she had a very busy year,
The Lodge was informed that
treats, flowers and cards had
been distributed to shutins,
Plans were made to have a
social evening after the next
meeting, September 18. The
social and entertainment
committee will be in charge.
A good attendance was
reported at the meeting.
A pot luck lunch was served.

Mrs. Peter McKenzie of 13,N,
3, ICIPPen, Passed away in South.
Huron •Hospital, Exeter,
Wednesday evening, September
4, Where she had been a patient
for several weeks. The fOrmer
Eleanor Hood,. she was in her
77th year.
Surviving are four sons, Lloyd
and Murray, 4.13,„ 8, Kippen;
Joseph and Kenneth, 13rtieefield;
two daughters, Gladys, Mrs.
Harold Cutimore, R.R. 1,
Hensall; and Eleanor, London;
one sister, Mrs, Edward (Norma)
Perkin, London; one brother,
Nelson Hood, Kippen; 11
grandchildren. Her husband died
in 1955.
Funeral'service was held from
Bonthron Funeral Home,
Hensall, Saturday, September 7,
conducted by Rev. J. C. Boyne.
Interment was in Bairds
Cemetery, Stanley Township.
Bearers were, Gordon
Schwalm, Stuart Wilson, Ross
Chapman, Preston Dallas, Jim
McN au ghton, and Howard
Dayman,

John IL Volland of Hensel',
died Sunday, Sept. 8, •in St.
Joseph's Hospital, London. Mr.
Volland was in his 88th year,
and was hospitalized in South
Huron Hospital, Exeter, and St.
Joseph's Hospital for four
weeks. He was a resident of
Goderich for 32 years, taking up
residence in Hensall two years
ago. In February, 1967, Mr. and
Mrs. Volland celebrated their
diamond wedding anniversary.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth
Albrecht, two sons, Clarence,
Hensall; Bruce, Goderich; three,
daughters,. Mrs. Eldon (Vera)
Johnston, Brucefield; Mrs. Lorne
(Irene) Finlayson, Hensall; Mrs.
Louis (Beatrice) Taylor, Varna;
16 grandchildren and 22
g re at-gran dchildren. Funeral
service i was held from the
Bonthron Funeral Home
Tuesday, Sept. 10, conducted by
Rev. G. L. Royal of Goderich.
Interment was in Hensall Union
cemetery. Pallbearers were:
Keith Volland, Brant Volland,
Ronald Taylor, Reg Synlayson,
Laird Synlayson, and Glen
Nixon. Flowerbearers were:
Murray Synlayson, Raymond
Volland, Leotta Johnston, and
Barbara Taylor.

Legion Ladies. Auxiliary
resumed meetings. Tuesday
evening, September 3, in the
Legion Hall with President, Mrs,
Garnet Allan presiding,
Mrs. Allan and treasurer, Mrs.
Grant Bisbach, were appointed
delegates to the Legion
Auxiliary Ponvention in Ottawa
September 16 to 19,
Plans were made for the
annual money doll draw, and a
19th birthday patty to be held
October 1, with a dinner at the
Dominion Hotel, Zurich.
Mystery prize was won by
Mrs. Allan, and guessing by Mrs.
Bran Kyle.
A pot luck lunch was served.

Mrs. Mary Taylor left
Wednesday, Sept. 11, by train
for Halifax, N.S., where she will
spend two weeks visiting with
her granddaugliter-in-law, Mrs.
Allan Young and son, Arron.

Peter McKenzie and Mrs.

members of the family.

Miss Pauline Bell has returned
from St. Thomas Figure Skating
School where she attended the
past eight weeks and was
successful in passing tests.
Mr. Will Govier spent a few'
days this week with his daughter
and family in London. •

The September meeting of
the Women's Institute was well
attended. Guests from Auburn
and Blyth were entertained. Mrs.
Agnes •Noon as guest speaker
told of her work at the Ontario
Hospital at Goderich. Barbara
.Burns , contributed accordion
selections, Beverley Lee
favoured with piano numbers. A
bake sale was held at the close.

Mrs. Harold Livingstone
returned home last week after
two weeks spent with her
daughter and family, Mr. and
Mrs. Campbell at Kingston.

Mrs. Laird Mickle had charge

trust and believe".
The Study was Presented by
Mrs. J. E. Cook on "Why does
God send trouble makers?
Mrs. Mickle gave two piano
selections, "Bless This House"
and "How Great Thou Art".
Mrs. Chipchase read a Nem
on "What is a greeting it's the
little things that count."
The next, General meeting is
scheduled for Monday evening,
October 21, with Unit 4 in
charge.
• The first meeting of the
"Drop-in Centre" will be
September 18, 1.0 to 11 a.m. in
Fellowship Hall.
Happy birthday was sung to
two members.
The meeting was closed with
the Mizpah Benediction, and tea
was served.

Dana of Port Colborne, have
returned after spending three
weeks 'with the .latter's parents,
Mr. and Mrs. William T. Kyle, of
Hensall.
Mr. and Mrs. Heber Shute of
Kirkton visited with the latter's
sister, Mr, and Mrs. Wilmer
Howatt on Saturday.

that Earl was able to return

improved after a few weeks
