one is a pip. I suppose everyone

here is to laugh. It is almost
hysterical to picture a maternity
patient rising up from her labour
room ordeal to shoot the doctor
just because he found she was
intensely pregnant. After all,

Summerhill ladies meet at 'the home
of Verna 'Gibbings

The Summerhill Ladies Club
met at the home of Verna
Gibbings on August 14. Twenty
members answered the roll call
by naming the flower they were
raising. •
Lorna Ellis opened the
meeting. Everyone sang "The
More We Get Together"
followed by the Creed and The
Lord's Prayer.
Thank you notes were read
from Keith Tyndall and the
family of the late Mrs. Herd.
Lorna Ellis thanked anyone
who helped in making the
Summerhill Community Picnic a
success. It was held July 22 at
the , Clinton Park. 70 pe,ople
attended, and •everyone• had a

The program at the meeting
consisted of two piano selections
played by, Sandra Good called
"Something Stupid" and "Turn
u Arond:r .and Look at Me".
Louise ,Lovett played two piano

. Winds". Karen Tyndall played
two piano selections "Pavana"
and "Yesterday".
The .next meeting is to be
held at Margaret Good's in the
afternoon. The roll call is to be
"Where You would liked to have
gone on your holidays''.

readings, contests and sing-song,
was arranged by the ladies, A
delicious lunch was served.
A delightful shower was held
by Mrs. Doug McNeil and her'
daughter, Mary-Lou, of R.R. 6,
Goderich, Many friends from the
Carlow and Benmiller area
gathered and a very entertaining
evening was spent on the lawn of
the McNeil farm home, Strings
o f coloured lights, and
candle-lamps decorated the
lawn, providing a lovely setting.
Mrs. Doug Fisher, of St.
Mary's, sister-in-law of the
b ri d e - elect, held' a lingerie
shower for Gail, which Gail's
cousins attended. During the
afternoon the girls enjoyed lively
conversations, and were later
served a delicious salad dinner
by Mrs. Fisher,
Mr. and Mrs. Douglas
McBeath and daughter, Windsor,
were recent guests with Mrs. J.
W. McBeath. •

Babies are minute marvels that
restore faith in miracles. Babies

feel cuddly and soft (most of the
time); sleep quietly' (mast of the
time); .. and eat very little.
The whole trouble is that
babies, grow within six months
or a year to tooth-getting crying,
crabby ,individuals who
eventually • become expensive,
bothersome, • boorish brats that
• try parents to the last inch of
their patience.

the farm home,
Pink and White streamers and,
wedding bells decorated, the
dining room, On the table was a
hand-crocheted tablecloth made
by ••Gail's grandmother, Mrs.
John Snell. Pink and white sweet
peas formed a lovely
centrepiece. Displayed on the
buffet was the wedding cake,
whip)) was decorated by Gail's
aunt, Mrs. Raymond Snell. Tall
pink tapers on each side of the
wedding, cake completed the
arrangement.
Pouring tea in the afternoon
were Mrs. John Snell, of
Londesboro, Gail's grandmother,
and Mrs. Jean Cairns, of
S e a f orth great-aunt of the
groom-elect, assisted by Mrs.
Stan Love' of Exeter. In the
evening Mrs. Robert Peck, of
Varna,• and Mrs. Urban
Ducharme, of Brussels, poured
tea.
Assisting Mrs. Fisher and
Gail, in receiving the guests, was
Mrs. Howard Currie, of Clinton,
mother of the groom-elect.
Attending the guest book, in •
the afternoon and evening, were

picnic .was held at Seaforth Lion
Park, July 20 with 68 persons
signing register.
Everyone was pleased to see
president Fred Sloman present,
being out of the hospital for the
day to attend. His duties were
ably taken over by vice-president
Dave Beynon, Baden.
After the usual sumptuous
