During the past week, a large
percentage of the spring grain
harvest was completed. The
moderately temperatured, bright
sunny days were excellent for
the harvest of these crops. •
The barley crop has been
yielding very well and the grain
is of good quality. Oats and
mixed . grains have been fairly
good but yield and cutting
conditions have been hampered
by severe lodging.
The corn crop in most areas
of the County is progressing very
well and expected yields look
good.
Some areas of the County
report white bean crops
somewhat better than other
areas. In some locations there
are signs sact'"(leaves "'
turning yellOw over all of the
field or just in patches) and
bean rust.
The sweet corn crop will soon
be ready in the southern part of
the County and yields look good
here also.
