and Hugh Alexander Lobb
exchanged wedding vows, The
double ring ceremony was
performed by Rev. M. R.
Roberts, ,
Traditional wedding music
was played by Mrs. Norman
Wightman and she acconipanied
the guest soloiit, Miss Barbara
Snell of .Londesboro when she
sang, "The Wedding Prayer",
"The Wedding Benediction" and
"0 Perfect Love."
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs, Ruurd Koopmans,
R. R. 2,. Auburn and the groom
is the son of Mr. and, Mrs.
Mervyn Lobb, R. 11„, 2, Clinton.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a
floor-length gown of imported
french crepe, The empire styled
bodice was trimmed with lace as
also were the elbow-length
sleeves. The front was edged
with two rows of lace and her
train fell from a lace trim below
her shoulders. Her four tiered
veil of silk illusion was held in
place by a crown studded vet
Pearls and xhizseetones. She
carried a bouquet of deep pink
roses and stephanotis.
Miss 1Viatsha Koopmans, sister
of the bride was maid of honour
wearing a floor-length dress of
caprice blue silk chiffon over
taffeta styled similar to the
bride's gown. The, lace bodice
was satin trimmed as also was
the flowing train in the back. A
caprice blue fabric flower held
the short veil. She carried 'a ,
cascade bouquet of white star`'
mums and fern. The
bridesmaids,- Miss Klaske
Koopmans, sister of the bride
and Miss Jeannette Lobb, of
Clinton, slater of the groom were
both dressed in gowns of caprice
blue styled the same as the Maid
of honour and carried bouquets
of white star mums,
The, best man was,Gordon
Lobb, brother of the groom and
the ushers were John Koopmans,
brother of the bride and Donald
Lobb, brother of the groom.
.Following the ceremony a
reception took place in the
Auburn Community Memorial
hall where the guests were
received by the wedding party
assisted by the bride's mother
wearing a lime green dress with
matching coat, beige hat and
accessories and an orange-bronze
carnation corsage. She was
assisted by • the groom's mother
wearing a dress of beige gold
brocade, flower hat and beige
accessories and an orange bronze
carnation corsage.
Following the wedding dinner
over 150 guests and Getatives
„attended the reception and
guests were from Guelph, ActOn,
Hamilton, Blyth, Clinton, St.
Thomas, 'Oshawa, Mitchell,
Staffa, • t)entralia, Chatham,
Seaforth, Lucknow, Waterloo,
Dorchester, Londesboro,
Wingham, Goderich, Elora, Port
Albert, Brussels, and London.
For 'a wedding trip to
Muskoka the bride donned a
dress of white lace over
turquoise' linen, white
accessories and a corsage of red
carnations.
Prior to her marriage the
bride was the guest of honour at
the following showers: A
community shower was held in
the Sunday school room of
Knox United Church; fellow
teachers of Hullett Township
Central School held a shower at
the home of Mrs. Bill Howson,
Blyth, former school mates and
friends held a shower at the
home of Miss Gloria Lutz,
Goderich; and Miss Jeanette
Lobb, RR 2, Clinton also held a
shower and entertained relatives.
Congratulations to Mr. Ed:
Davies on winning the D.
Championship match • in the
Horseshoe pitching competition
held last Saturday' at the
Canadian National Exhibition-at
Toronto. Over 80 players took
part in the competition and
trophies were donated by
Carlings. Mr: Davies 3was,1
presented With, "a loVely trophy,
Mr. Courtland Kerr also took
part in the competition.
Mr, and' Mrs. Donald Haines
recently purchased the Knox
Presbyterian Manse and have
taken possession.
Friends of Mr- Harry Arthur
are pleased that he was able to
leave Goclerich hospital after
several days spent there last
week.
A beautiful solo was sung in.
Auburn United Church last
Sunday by Mrs. Betty Tote.
Mrs, Tate will continue to
sing in the fall,
Mr, and, Mrs. Clayton
Robertson. 6f Copper Cliff were
recent visitors with her parents,
Mr. end 'Mrs. William, Straughan
and his father, Mr. •J. J,
Robertson.
Mr. Dana Bean is recovering
from surgery when he had his
tonsils removed in Clinton
hospital last week.
Mr. Tommy Raithby of
Collingwood visited last week
with his grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Raithby and John.
Mr, and Mrs. William Stiles
spent the weekend with relatives
in Toronto,
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas
Johnston visited on Sunday with
his sister, Mrs. Ethel Farrow who
is very ill in St. Joseph's
hospital, London following
surgery.
The August meeting of the
Anglican Church Women was
held at the home of Mrs. Orval
McPhee with a good attendance.
The Hdstess opened the meeting
with the hymn, "Stand up stand
up for Jesus," accompanied by
Mrs. Gordon R. Taylor on the
accordion. The scripture lesson,
Psalm 121 was read by Mrs.
Thomas Haggitt and prayers
were led'by Mrs. John Daer.
The missionary theme was a
reading by Mrs. Andrew
Kirkconnell from The
Northland. Rev. G. E. Pakenham
read a very interesting chapter
on The Dykes of a Family taken
from the book on "The Dykes
of Civilization" and a discussion
followed. Readings on "Life and
duties of a housewife" was read
by Mrs. George Schneider. The
hymn, "My Faith looks up to
'thee", closed the first part of
the meeting.
The president, Mrs. Thomas
Haggitt took charge of the
business portion of 'the meeting.
The minutes were adopted as
read by the secretary, Mrs,-John
Daer. The financial statement
was given by the treasurer, Mrs.
Andrew Kirkconnell.. The
travelling apron received a penny
for each letter in Transfiguration
of our Lord. The roll call was
answered by naming an
Evangelist. Rev: Pakenham
announced that Harvest
Thanksgiving services would be,
held on September 15 and
closed the meeting with prayer.
A successful auction was held
and lunch was served by the
hostess, Mrs. McPhee assisted by
Mrs. T. Haggitt.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wright and
family of London spent last
week with Mr. Robert Arthur
and Miss Jayne.
Craig's sawmill closed down
last Friday for their annual
summer vacation.
