More retail pharmacists are
filling "open" prescriptions with
a generic manufacturer's product
rather than a brand name,
according to the fifth annual
survey of prescriptions
conducted by Drug
Merchandising.
("Open" means that the
prescribing doctor in effect gives
the pharmacist the choice of
selecting drugs either by
chemical name or by brand
name, the former being more
often cheaper.)
Over the years, according to

been a gradual swing to using
more generic products, But the'
