R. Robinson by a score of 14 to 4 last week. The Goderich team scored 12 runs in the first inning and were never threatened. Hans Leppington hit a home run in the sixth inning with two men on base for Clinton. Clinton finished with an 8 - 4 record for the season and will begin playoffs in the near future. which went by the infield, only one lofty ball was hit to the outfield, and this was handled routinely by outfielder Steve Amsing, The entire team played their best fielding game of the year. In the fifth inning, two hard hit balls were handled by shortstop Brian Langille who fielded the balls on crazy hops and threw the batters out at first base. The two Listowel pitchers couldn't stop' Langille at the plate. In five times at bat he connected for a single, a double, and two triples. His first triple in the sixth inning drove in three runs. Golfers were competing for the Stew Cook Memorial Trophy. Winners were; Age 14 to 16, Gary Cummings, Gary was tied with Gordon Lavis at the end of 18 holes, and was declared winner after two extra holes had been played. Age 11 to 13, Wayne Hartman. Kay Sharpe, a member of the club, recently played in the Business Girls' Tournament at the Strathroy Golf Club. She won the low gross inter group class, and took home a chaise lounge as her prize. Dave Hallman, another club member, while playing at Grand Bend, had an amazing score in his last three holes. On the 16th hole he had a par three, on the 17th he 'achieved the golfer's dream -- a hole in one, and finished the game with a birdie on the 18th. Both the Pee Wees and Bantams, have completed their schedulesand are noWpreparing for the upcoming playoffs- The Bantams compiled a 7 - 2 record, while the Pee Wees won all 10 games in their schedule, In recent games I note several parents and fans are beginning to attend both home and away games, and I am sure this is a great boost for the boys. At Listowel on Thursday evening, 10 adults and eight children accompanied the Pee Wees, and they witnessed one of the best games the local boys have played this year. ' The Pee Wees are entered in the All Canada Pee Wee Tournament at Listowel from August 3 to 5., They are classed with Listowel, Petrolia and Kincardine in the "B" class. They will play their first game at 12 o'clock Saturday. I noticed recently a large picnic being held in our local community park. If you are, The Clinton Bantams finished their, WOAA league schedule by defeating Exeter 12 to 10. Although Exeter outhit Clinton 14 to 13, Clinton pitcher Brian Edgar did not issue a walk, while Exeter' pitchers gave up five free passes. Big gun at the plate for Clinton was Barry Edgar who had three singles and a double. Gary Cummings belted a triple to start the second inning, and scored Clinton's first run on a Bantams defeat Clinton Bantams gained another victory last Tuesday when they defeated Seaforth 10 to 8 in a game played on the local diamond. A big sixth inning cinched the game for Clinton. After Gary Cummings and Wayne Pollock had reached first and second on two errors, Jim Engel belted out a triple, allowing both runners to score. Cal Fremlin followed with a single scoring Engel. Brian Edgar' received a walk, stole second' and third, and scored on a wild pitch to end the scoring.
