was not as good as we expected.
In the hope that more children
will register, applications will be
accepted for the rest of the
week, and next week. We need

During this program we will
endeavour to teach the children
how to play and get along with
others. Daily events such as
games, 'crafts, sing-songs,
story-telling and scavenger hunts
provide fun and enjoyment for

champions in •the Kinsmen Pee
Wee town league 'last Tuesday
evening when they easily
defeated the Yankees 21 to 4.

Campbell with a triple, Mike
Anstett, a single and a double,

The Clinton Bantams, lost two
close games last week by'scores
of 6 to 5 and 5 to 4,
On Friday night in Listowel,
Listowel pitcher Dale Fleishauer
scored in the bottom of the
seventh inning to give the home
team a 6 to 5 victory over the
Clinton nine.
Clinton pitcher Steve Switzer
and Fleishauer each gave up nine
hits in the ball game, Fleishauer
striking out nine Clinton batters.
Switzer sent six men down
swinging.

The' Bantams lost' another
close one in Mitchell. Monday
night when they came out on
the losing end of a 5 to 4
contest. •
Bruce Craig scored in the
second inning to give Clinton an
early lead. However, Mitchell
pushed two runs across the plate
in the third inning on two' hits
and a walk.
Clinton's big inning came in
the fourth when Steve Switzer,
Jim Engel and Kevin McLean
scored to make the score 4 to 2.
Clinton managed to advance
runners to third in the fifth and
seventh -innings, but could not
get another run across the plate.
In the sixth, O'Donnell
bahged out a bases loaded triple
for Mitchell which put the score
at 5 to 4.
Gary Cummings and Steve
Switzer collected two hits apiece
for Clinton. Pitcher Brian Edgar
struck out three batters, walked
two, and gave up 11 hits.
Twins win Peewee title
Clinton Kiinsinen Club,
presented the News-Record
trophy to team captain Don
MacDonald, and crests to each
member of the winning team.

The Kinsmen Pee wees
continued their winning style in
games played last week. In a
Saturday afternoon game in New
Hamburg, behind the pitching of
Robbie Stirling and Donnie
MacDonald, who pitched the 7th
inning. The New Hamburg
pitcher walked a total of 18
batters and allowed only 8 hits.

Steve Amsing, pitching his
first full game this season, issued
only two walks, allowed four
hits and struck out 12 batters in
the Ponies 20 to 6 victory over
Seaforth Monday night.
Amsing drove in 4 runs on a
single in the 3rd inning and a
standup triple in the 4th with
the bases loaded.
Catcher Danny Colquhoun
belted out a home run in the 6th
inning scoring, 2 mates ahead of
him.
Clinton batters collected a
total of 16 hits, in their best
hitting game of the season.

The Kinsmen Pee' Wees
coached by Russ Archer,
managed by Bert Clifford are
nndefeated after 6 games; the
Fish and Game Bantams coached
by Bill Craig,-managed by Don
Jefferson have a 2-2 record
winning 17 to 1 over St, Marys
and 9 to 6 .over Mitchell. In the
past week they lost two games
by one run, 6 to 5 with Listowel
and 5 to 4 at Mitchell.
The players and management
complained bitterly of the poor
umpiring at Listowel. Clinton's
home umpires, Howard Tait, Pat
Langille and Bruce Collins are
excellent umpires, and have
helped provide entertaining ball
in this area.
The Juveniles again this year
are a powerful team but lack a
league' to play in. Manager
Howard Tait is trying to line up
exhibition games for the locals.
Bob Livermore is assisting the
running of the Legion sponsored
team.
Clinton for many years has a
reputation of attending the
