three victories
Teams 2 and 3 have
surprise comeback
Strong pitching and excellent
hasp running has been the strong
point in the three games of the
' Clinton Kinsmen Ponies this
year.
The local Pee Wee all star
team has been undefeated in
three starts • this year, and if
scores are any indication, the
team could go all the way this
year,
In the first game of the
season, the local team defeated
St. Mary's by a'score of 15 to 2.

to be the ceMeback teams of the
year in the Kinette sponsored
girls' softball league, as both
advanced to the finals.
After winning only one game
all season, Team 3 collected a
total of 67 hits to outscore
second place finishers, Team 4,
53 to 12, Home runs in the game
for Team 3: Kathy Kromery (5),
Darlene Webb, Gail Wagar,
Wanda IVIilloy, Grace Strong had
a homer for Team 4.
The biggest upset of the year
came Monday night when Team
2 defeated previously unbeaten
Twins, Yankees
meet in final
In Satuiday morning's
playoff., action in the Kinsmen
Pee Wee league, the Twins
advanced to the finals by
defeating the Tigers 16 to 1.
In the second game, a wild
throw to the second baseman in
the last inning allowed Danny
Colquhoun to score and give the
Yankees a 9 to 8 victory over
the Red Sox.

Clinton's playground
supervisors last week attended a
course at Goderich Summer
School sponsored by the
Community Programs branch of
the Department of Education.
Attending were Patsy
Priestap, Grace Vanloo, and
Nancy Pickett.
Swim instructors Pat Ball and
Linda East are both qulaified
Red Cross instructors after
completion of a week's training
in London.
Enrollment in the swimming
program is over 400 at the
present time. Applications will
be accepted for the rest of the
week. Close to 100 persons from
Blyth will come to Clinton
evenings for swimming
instruction.
Lessons begin July 1.

win semi- finals
The Cards will meet the
Giants in the championship
game of the Squirt league. Both
teams won decisive victories in
the semi-final contests. .
The Cards, behind Neil
Colquhoun's. pitching and David
Clynick's three hits scored a 14
to 4 victory over the Pirates.
Although the weather was,
not the best, the Giants defeated
the Dodgers 11 to 5 on Friday
evening. The game was
highlighted by a hard hit home
run"by Doug (Boogie) Schoenals.
Championship game between
the Giants and Cards will be
played Wednesday at 6:30 on
the Public School diamond.
