The Cheerio Club met last
week at the home of Mrs. Will
Manning. A new member was
welcomed. Mrs. Gaunt gave a
reading from "The Upper
Room"; a hymn followed. A
draw to rearrange the groups
was conducted and a bus trip
was discussed. Readings and a
contest comprised the program.
A few games of cards were
enjoyed after which the
hostesses served a tasty
supper.
Mrs. Andy Gaunt of Lucknow
visited on Tuesday with Mr. and
Mrs. Earl Gaunt.
Mr. and Mrs. Dave Mair of
Detroit spent the weekend with
Mrs. Fairservice and Ann.
Congratulations are in order
to Helen Good who was crowned
Huron County Dairy Princess
at Clinton Spring Fair and will
be eligible to compete for the
provincial title at the CNE in
Toronto in August.
During the electric storm on
Sunday afternoon the United
Church was struck demolishing
a large portion of the chimney
also burning out the amplifiers
in the church. This is the second
occurrence.

The Twins defeated the
Yankees to grab first place in
the Kinsmen Pee Wee League
The Yankees took a three run
lead in the first inning on runs
by Ray Burps, Terry Dumont
and Steve Amsing. The Twins
matched them when Mike An.
stett, Greg Butler and Robert
Andrews scored, The second
inning proved to be the big
one for the Twins as they chalk-
ed up four runs, from Paul
Kay, Steve Cook, Butler and
Andrews. Danny Colquhoun
scored a single run for the
Yankees in the third inning.

on account of rain after two
innings of play.
In Monday night's girls' soft-
ball action, Team 1 defeated
Team 2 by a score of 29 to
23. Team 1 has not suffered a
setback yet this season and
maintains a strong hold onfirst
place.
Home runs for Team 1 came
off the bats of Geraldine Strong,
Diane Cunningham, and Cathy
Grigg. Sandra Fremlin and
Joyce Neilans had one apiece
for Team 2.
