Kenneth Harvey Castle, 284 Blair Road, Galt, who was jailed early Sunday morning on a com. mon assault Charge laid by his wife, was found hanging by his belt from a cross-bar on the cell door. He was found about 2:30 p.m. by two turnkeys who gave him artificial respiration and had him removed to Alexandra Marine and General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Dr. G. F. Mills coroner, set date for the inquest at April 19 at 9 a,m, in theHuronCounty courthouse. The horizontal cell door bar from which Castle was found hanging was only 58 inches from floor level, the coroner said. Official reports said Castle had been drinking before he was brought into the jail about 1 a.m. Sunday, Dr. Mills said, but he was "certainly okay when they (the turnkeys) talk. ed with him Sunday afternoon" shortly before they checked back and found him. Goderich detachment OPP said Mrs. Castle phoned in the assault complaint at 8:15 p.m. fork Bayfield, where the couple were visiting. An officer took her to Alexandra Marine and General Hospital where she was treated and ref leased, while another officer went looking for Mr. Castle. Chief Fred Minshall and Sgt. Ross Crawford of the Goderich Police Department are invest- igating the death. He is survived by his wife, the former Nancy Anderson, sons Gary of Preston, Scott of North Bay, Dana, Randy and Kenneth, all of Galt. Also surviving are his father Thomas Castle Sr., of Bayfield, brothers Ronald, of Goderich, Thomas Jr. of Bayfield and Eugene of Los Angeles; sis- ters Mrs. Lloyd (Geraldine- Winhold of London and Mrs. Russell (Markin) Cox of Cab. gary. Funeral was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Ball Funeral Home, Clinton. Burial was in Bayfield Cemetery. Mrs. George Boa offered prayer. A film on Japan was presented "One Half Of One Percent". A motion was passed to send a donation to the Bunny Bundle.
