Mrs. R. Davis, president of the W.A., was in charge of the meeting. Members spent the afternoon quilting. An invitation was ex­ tended to ladies of the congrega­ tion to attend an afternoon tea ad bazaai* in Centralia United Church basement on Wednesday afternoon,, October 29 at 2:30 and to Lucan Holy Trinity No­ vember 1 and Lucan United Church November 8. The Young People of St. Pat­ rick’s Church has been invited to a Hallowe’en party to be held in the basement of St. Paul’s Church, Kirkton, Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. M. Dickins at- Thanksgiving service United Church Sun- Open this Sunday, Wednes­ day afternoon, and during the evenings throughout the week: Local Auxiliary Has Anniversary Celebrating the first annivers­ ary, the local branch, Legion Auxiliary had as guests at their last meeting, Palmerston and Grand Bend branches. The Grand Bend group presented a bouquet of flowers to the Exeter ladies to mark the occasion. With the help of, members of the Ladies Auxiliary of " eter Branch, Canadian Comrade Joan Harness temporarily in Charge of eter Guide Company. Three New Members Three new members were itiated into the auxiliary and group officially announced charter had been received. Let­ ters of thanks were read from veterans at Westminster Hospi­ tal for birthday gifts sent by the auxiliary. Plans were made at the meet­ ing to sell poppies for Remem­ brance Day, November 8, and members decided to send flowers and cards to two ill members. A humorous take-off on the Ar­ thur Godfrey Show was conduct­ ed by Comrade Witmer assisted by Comrade Mary Cutting, to begin the program. Bill Stacy, of Centralia R.C.A.F., played some fine selections on his piano accordian and Comrade Durand sang two songs assisted by Com­ rades Harness, Mason and Wit­ mer. Visitors Win Prizes A wool blanket, donated by Comrade Oke, was won by Com­ rade Laura Harness and the mystery gift was won by Mrs. Emma Root, of Palmerston. Other contests were won by Mrs. Fred Nellett and Mrs. Arthur Bolahder, both of Palmerston and Mary Witherspoon, of Grand Bend. Mrs. Hopcroft, of Grand Bend, won the gift for the lucky number. A formal letter of appreciation from Legion members for the ladies’ work on drapes in the hall was read by secretary, Com­ rade Pfaff.
