The new Exeter intermediates
losses this week—-15-0 to Zurich
and 7-1 to Mitchell—don't mean
there’s no hope left yet for local
fans.
Some of the midgets—Dick
McFalls in particular—showed up
well Friday night in spite of the
score. Taking into consideration
it was their first game with the
older intermediates, the young
hopefuls from Derry ’ Boyle’s
organization proved themselves
able and willing.
Dick McFalls caught like a
veteran, and although his arm
to second was weak, he hit the
ball every time up. Don Wells
muffled two chances at second
base but looked as if he could
handle the spot after some ex
perience.
Glen Robinson and Bill Wag
horn appeared on the diamond
for the first time. Robbie was in
left field and Bill replaced Wells
at second for- half the game.
Given time and practice this
“home brew”

league.
The local flingers served up
13 walks to give Zurich all the
a d v a n t a g e they needed. The
visitors added eight hits, includ
ing two doubles and a triple, to
widen the margin. Bill Yungplut
slammed the triple and two
singles in four times at bat and
Pete Cundy hit two for three.
Harry Jacobi blasted a triple
and a single to account for half
of Exeter’s hits. Don Wells and
Lome Haugh clouted the other
two. Jack Fuller was the loser.
Harry Jacobi and Bob Russell
finished the game.
Ron Heimrich pitched the
shutout. He had trouble in spots

Moral. Victory
-The 7-1 loss
day night was
for the Exeter crew. At a loss to
field nine men because of many
conflicting events in the .district,
the locals picked up some spec
tators and took a skeleton crew
to face last year’s champions.
Main objective was to hold the
Legionaires to less than a 10- run lead.
