At 10 a.m. June 19, Don left Lucan, caught the 11 o'clock plane, dinner in Cleveland, was at ball field at two, saw all game and was back in Lucan by 8 p.m.—hardly seems possible! Mrs. Stone was one of the bridesmaids at the wedding. Several from this community attended the Wein-Butler wed­ ding on Saturday. Seventeen little little boys were the home of Mr. Ryan on Tuesday, June 24 when their little daughter Alice cele­ brated her eleventh birthday. Misses Marion Ashworth, Vi­ vian Stanley, Alice Haggar and Helen Howard have gone on a 10 day motor trip to Muskoka. Grade three and four, five and six, with their teacher, Miss Gowlett and Mr. Carl Crocker had a most happy time last Wed­ nesday. They began with a hike which ended at the river where all enjoyed a swim, races other sports. Last but not was a picnic lunch which sapeared when attacked by gry children. H. Hodgins, Main St. to honour Miss Patri­ cia Gowlett, of Stratford, who has taught in Lucan for the past three years and who will became the brid of Mr, Carl Crocker, Gramton, an associate teacher for the past two years. The entertainment fo.r the evening was a mock radio show a take-off on the “Fun Parade" and solos by Miss Norma June Hodgins. Lucky door prizes were drawn by many of the guests and proved to be miscellaneous pieces of kitchen equipment which were turned ever to the bride elect. Rev. Harold Snell of Exeter was the cairman for the evening. The program opened with piano selections by Mrs. Philip Johns and Mrs. Reg Hodgert. Ruth Skinner gave a reading. A male quartette from Roy’s con­ gregation sang. A reading was given by Mabel Selves. A guitar trio consisting of Lome and Donald Ballantyne and John Pym was accompanied by Mildred Ballantyne at the piano. Mrs, Ed Hocking gave a reading. A vocal duet by Anne and Doris Elford, a reading by Mrs. Melvin Gardiner were much enjoyed, Rev. Snell then gave an ad­ dress followed by a reading by Mrs. Ed Hocking. Mr. Aimer Stewart then read the address and Andrew Christie presented Mr. Mair with a purse of money. Mrs. Wiseman presented Mrs. Mair with a silver dish and Anne Elford and Anna Routly each presented Betty and Joanne with a cup and saucer. Rev. Mair spoke a few of thanks.
