However, under the marriage act of Ontario, they can now marry without par­ ental consent. — Central Press Canadian Moon Family Re-Union J Has Large Attendance The twenty-fourth annual Moon family re-union was held at Springbank on June 21 with an attendance of 125. Members were present from Saskatchewan, Stratford, Exeter. Thedford, Lon­ don, Chatham. Owen Sound, Wiarton, Weston. Parkhill and Nova Scotia. Ronald Moon was elected pre­ sident; Eloise Pym. secretary­ treasurer; Mr. and Mrs. Law­ rence Hirtzel and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Campbell sports commit­ tee. Winners of the various races were as follows: Carol Watson, Crystal Gerald Gloria Harold Pearl Jack and Jean Snell. Lawrence and Mildred Hirtzel. Billy Helt­ zel. Those attending the picnic from the furthest distance were Mr. and Mrs. Carl Fletcher from Nova Scotia. The oldest present was Jack Campbell, Exe­ ter, and the oldest lady was Mrs. West from Kimble. Varied Fun, Contests At Gill Re-Union The eighth annual Gill re-union was held at Ipperwash Govern­ ment Park on Saturday, June 28 with seventy of the elan sit­ ting down to a chicken dinnex with all the trimmings includ­ ing ice-cream. In the afternoon sports were run off as follows: Boys under four, Joe Gill; boys 5 yrs., Em­ merson GilL Brian Gill (tied); girls 10 years, Mai-y Gill; girls 12 to 14, Betty Wilson; girls 15 and over, Nancy Gill; boys 15 and over, Wilson Augustine. Young married women’s race, Olive Gill; young married men, Bill Sturdevant; three-legged- race, Betty Wilson and June Augustine; kicking the slipper, ladies, June Augustine, men, Russell Gill; boys. Mrs. Kenneth Hod­ family, Mr. Norman Former School Teacher Dies in Florida Miss May Gill, a native of Exeter and for a number of years teacher in the Exeter Pub­ lic School, died June 26 in Tampa, Florida, aged 85 years and five months. After teaching for 16 years in Exeter, Miss Gill taught for 11 years in Fort Erie and finally for 21 years in Por­ tage La Prairie, Man. Following the death of her brother Luth­ er’s wife she retired from teach­ ing and went to live in Ohio. Five years moved to Tampa. Deceased was active club and Eastern Star activities until two years ago when she developed a heart condition. Sur­ viving is her brother, Dr. Gill, of Tampa, and a Evelyn Irene Gill.
