1 Monday night in the Irish
town. Jake Wein hit a home run
in the eighth inning with one
man on base. Jimmy Hayter led

night. Bob Storms was the win
ning pitcher.
Tapp started on the mound
for Lucan but was knocked out
in the third. Appleton finished
the game. For the Irish, Pitt
scored three hits in four tries.

Baseball must 'be hereditary
in this Mitro family. Last year’s
fans, who raved about Joe’s
pitching, fielding and hitting,
saw almost the same guy on the
mound Monday night. It’s a
cinch younger Steve isn’t going
to take a back seat to Joe, cur
rently hurling with London
Majors. Steve—‘‘Peachie" they
call him—looks like Joe, pitches
just as hard, fields as well, and
although he didn’t get a safety,
lie pounded the ball every time
at the plate.
The kid bounced into liis first
game in the Huron-Perth and he
pitched one-hit ball against the
hardest slugging team in the
league. The single bingle was a
heartbreaker too. It bounced

Greys Win, Lose
In Early Games
Exeter Greys began the soft-

At Centralia it was a different
story on Friday night when the
Greys took the airwomen for a
fast ride to the tune of 19 to 2.
The RCAF team showed promise
in running and in the last few
innings in hitting b u t they
could’t seem to hold on to the
rampaging Exeter nine.
The two runs for Centralia
were made by Marshall in the
third and Wallace in the nineth.
Wallace, first to bat in the ninth
came in with a spectacular home
run which showed that the Cen
tralia girls may show much stif
fer opposition after some prac
tice and by the time they meet
the Greys again towards the end
of the season.
For Exeter, Haworth got home
four times and three runs were
netted each by Tuckey, Hunter-
Duvar and King.
