Euchre prises were won by Mrs. Anne Coates and Fred Cole and bridge prises by Mrs. Gertrude Hamilton and Mrs. Oda Love. Winners of the marathon bridge and euchre held during the winter were ’ announced and prizes awarded. Mrs. Stella Dix­ on held high score or" euchre and Mrs. Gladys Chambers for bridge. Prizes were awarded by Mrs. Elaine Stone, social con­ vener. Mrs. E. Reeder and her com­ mittee served lunch following the card party. Entertains 100 An evening of sociability and good will was enjoyed on Wed­ nesday evening, when members of the W.l. held their meeting in the Sunday School auditorium of the Evangelical Church and had as their guests members of the Elimville and Hurondale societies. One hundred ladies were pre­ sent. The president, Mrs. R. |Motz, presided. Roll call was answered by naming place of (mother’s birth. Several items of I business were discussed and plans made for attending the (district annual, June 12. i Presidents of the visiting In­ stitutes presided for the program. A vocal duet was sung by Mrs. Dougall and Mrs. Sillery, of Hurondale, and a reading was given by Mrs. G. Hern, Elimville. Mrs. Johns, of Elimville present­ ed a number “Little Brown Church’’, a c c o m p a n i e d» by a quartette of ladies voices. A piano duet was played by Mrs. I. Finkbeiner and 'Mrs. E. M. Fahrner, of Crediton. Mrs. Motz introduced the speaker of the evening, Mrs. E.- Desjardine, of Grand Bend, who gave a very interesting talk on “Hobbies”. The speaker urged all ladies to have a hobby, whether it be club, church activities or a job, but to select a hobby that gives you pleasure. She referred to the hobby of the late Jack Miner and several others. Her own hobbies are flowers, making scrap books and memorizing poems. In closing she recited three of her favorite poems. In thanking Mrs. Desjardine, Mrs. Motz pre­ sented her with a gift. Gifts were also presented to Mrs’ Sidney •Smith, who expects to soon join her husband in Nova Scotia, and to Mrs. J. Woodall, a member of long standing, but who recently retired. Mrs. Emmery Fahrner conduct­ ed a contest after which an elaborate lunch was served and appreciation expressed by the visitors. W. G. She was removed to St. Joseph’s Hospital on Thursday where she is pro­ gressing favourably. Mr. Melleville Hern is con­ fined to his bed suffering from a slight stroke. We wish him a speedy recovery. O'Brien and family of Copper Mt., B.C., have returned home having visit­ ed with Mr. and Mrs. O’Brien. Former Whalen Girl Wed In London Laura Jean Ogden, daughter of Mrs. W. J. O’Brien, Whalen Corners, and the late W. H. Ogden, was united in marriage Saturday afternoon to Zygmunt Chodasewicz, of London, son of Mrs. Chodasewicz and the late W. Chodasewicz. The marriage was solemnized at Wellington Street United Church manse by the Rev. J. W. Hunt. The bride wore a navy blue bengaline suit with white acces­ sories and a corsage of pink Briarcliff roses. She was attended by Mrs. W. C. Ogden, who wore a red gabar­ dine suit with navy blue acces­ sories and a corsage of Johanna Hill roses. W. C. Ogden, brother of the bride, was groomsman. Following a reception at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hern, the bride and groom left fqr a wedding trip to Niagara Falls. They will reside in London. Hodgson-Bavkovy . Wed In Toronto Raymond Hodgson, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Hodgson and Ann Bavkovy, ’niece of Mr. and Mrs. S. Diahen, Toronto, were united in marriage at the Knox Presbyterian Church, Toronto. Rev. Barr was the officiating clergyman. Given in marriage by her uncle, the bride wore a gown ot all white lace over satin with a fitted bodice buttoned from the waist with a Peter Pau beaded collar. Her dress had a long , train which was carried by the junior attendents, and a floor­ length veil held in place with a crown of pearls. She carried a cascade bouquet of red roses. The maid of honor, Miss K. Moyseeek, and the two bridesmaids, Miss Gladys Pelfef and Miss Edna . Zaleschuck all wore the same style gowns of nylon net. The little flower girl, Lorraine Illadysl, was dressed in yellow net gown, and carried pink car­ nations. Kenneth Hodgson was the groom’s attendant and Roy and Howard Hodgson were the ushers. David Hodgson, Windsor, was ring-bearer. Following the wedding dinner, a Ukrainian reception was given at Simcoe Hall. Receiving were the bride’s aunt, Mrs, s, Dea- inond, and the groom’s mother; Following the honeymoon the happy eoujile wilt make their Anniversary At Saintsbury Church The eightieth anniversary service was held in St. Patrick’s Church, Saintsbury* on Sunday, May 25, with largo congrega­ tions at both morning and eve­ ning service. The church was decorated with spring flowers. A reredos and cross were de­ dicated by the rector, Mr. Grif­ fin. They were given by the •Smyth family as a memorial to their parents, William John and Anna Maria Smyth, life-long members of St. Patrick’s Church. Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Smyth of Midland and Mr. and Mrs. F. Smyth of Centralia were present for the service. A daughter, Mrs. P. Dickins, of London, was un­ able to be present. Mrs. M. Elston was at the piano and, assisted by Mr. A, Elston, violinist, provided special music, A trio, Messrs. L. and C, Paul, and Shirley Paul of Kirk­ ton sang and a duet was ren­ dered by Messrs. M. and A. Els­ ton. Mr. M. Griffin, rector, ■ was in charge of the service and spoke on the history of the Ang­ lican Church at both services. Special music was provided by the Mills quartet at the evening service. Visitors in the community for the day were: Mr. and Mrs. D. Morley and Vera of Granton with Mr. and Mrs. E. Atkinson.
