L. Sturgis who thanked local organizations who made the ex hibit possible. He paid tribute to Mrs. James Lyne who has been of late, very encouraging to townspeople’s interest in art. “For those of us who don’t know too much about art,” Mr. Sturgis said, “we can always keep looking at pictures hoping that we can sometime under stand. He called on Mrs. Lyne to speak to the gathering. Mrs. Lyne thanked all who had participated in bringing the paintings to Exeter and she ex pressed a hope that Exetex* would develop an even greatex’ interest. At a reception which followed the opening, in the library of the school, some 35 persons were able to talk over the ex hibit with Mr. Bice. Compare Favorably He said that the painters all belonged to no particular group. "They are really all amateurs,” he said, "and as such compare favorably with any other’ ex hibit, They have used a variety of approaches which should be very interesting to everyone.” Mr. and Mrs. Sturgis greeted people as they entered both the exhibition and the reception. Mrs. H. II. Cowen and Mrs. J. G. Dunlop poured coffee and local Kinettes who prepared the reception, served the guests. Dr. Cowen thanked the Soror ity for their part in sending out invitations for the opening and the Kinettes for their work. The exhibit will be at school for the public to see this week. the all Huron Presbyterial -—Continued from Page 10 jection to commercialized Sunday sports, because people need one day in seven for their spiritual needs, and mental and physical relaxation as well. Members of the W.M.S. were requested to study the matter seriously so that they may be able to influence others should an attempt ‘be made to legalize such sport in their communities. Because many magazines and newspapers are supporting their publications in part by so-called institutional liquor advertise ments; and because this advertis ing is increasing daily, the Huron Presbyterial in a resolution voiced opposition to such form of advertising. Appeal Made An appeal is being made that the legislature enforce such re strictions and regulations as are now on the statute books regard ing bans on liquor advertising. The Presbyterial also voiced objection to gambling in all forms, and urged its members to take no part in games of chance, nor to lend their names as patrons to organizations that carry on gambling in any form. In a resolution, members are urged to learn more of the work of tdbe United Nations, which is “theworld’s best hopes for sett ling international problems. By obtaining knowledge of its work, members of the W.M.S., will be able to give intelligent support to the endeavors of the United Nations.” Prayer was asked for the leaders of the U.N., and for the people of all nations that they may accept the teachings and principles of Jesus, and so promote world friendship.
