After Hours
Last week Pinafore and this

of the community.
Let’s give these people lots of

this comes up. Often it is said

Here are some suggestions that
come out of the bread box in
stead of the cookie jar.
Toasted Cinnamon Squares
To make these, cut very fresh
bread in cubes about one and
one-half inches in size. Spread
each cube on all sides with but
ter and roll in a mixture made
of equal amounts of fruit and
brown sugar, with cinnamon to
taste.
Place the cubes on a buttered
cookie sheet and bake in a hot
oven, 400 °F., until they are
well browned, about five min
utes. —Good with afternoon tea
oi’ coffee.

Bread Fingers
These are also easy to, make.
Slice day-old bread three-quar
ters of an inch thick. Trim off
the crusts and cut into strips,
making them about three-quar
ters of an inch wide
inches long.
Spread the strips on
with condensed milk,
well, Then roll in

Take a pink
which looked perfectly charming
on a hat in a store window the
other day, and put it somewhere
in the middle of the Pinafore
audience. The thoughts of the
person behind it might go some
thing like this—’
“Oh now I can see who is
singing, it’s the Mayor! I’d
never have recognized him in
that pink feather.” Or,
—“What’s everyone making
such a fuss up theye about?
What’s the giln doing suspend
ed in midair by a pink-feather?”
Even Dorothy Dix says it is
quite the best thing to remove
one’s hat out of courtesy to the
person behind. "We noticed one
lady who did it and the gesture
brought many apreciative glances
from all around her. Two inches
of extra hat height in the middle
of the auditorium
