Mrs. Belle Bagshaw, widow of William Bagshaw, who taught school 52 years ago at Fairfield, passed away suddenly at the ■ home of her daughter, in Ot­ tawa. Mr. Morris Hern, who has been having a well drilled by Lome Hayden, Thorndale, was fortunate in striking water at 140 feet. The water rose 90 feet and stood at that level under continuous pumping. Mr, Howard Wright has gone to Toronto where he is under­ going a major operation. While attempting to release a dog which had become entangled in a wire fence, Mr. Frank Stagg was painfully bitten in the arm and was under medical attention for sveral days last week. Mrs. Elmer Colquhoun, Clin­ ton, visited at the home of her sister, Mrs. Thomas Scott, Sr., last week. A euchre party, sponsored by Staffa Women’s Institute was held in Walker’s Hall Thursday evening with a large crowd in attendance. A half hour was spent in discuss­ ing the topic which was broad­ cast on the radio. Progressive euchre was played and lunch was served by the committee in ■charge.
