Actually, llderton and Zurich are tied in points but the new comers have played one less game and still haven't tasted de feat. Hensall, crippled by front line injuries, are managing to keep an even keel on the win-loss balance. They ran roughshod over Thedford 14-1 Friday. Seemingly a n unpredictable quantity, the Combines (Thed ford-Parkhill) have a won-two- lost-three record. After taking that 14-1 shellacking from Hen sall Friday they turned the ta bles on Lucan Monday with a 6-2 count. Both Dashwood and St. Marys have taken advantage of Exeter to get their only wins of the season, Dashwood suffered an 8- 2 decision from Lucan Friday while both Zurich and llderton took the stone towners to task this week. Take for instance last Friday’s game. The Exeter crew twitched the twine 11 times but it so hap pened the Zurich snipers nailed the netting three times more often. Actually Bunny’s sixx gave the league-leaders some worry. If they hadn’t been shorthanded in the first twenty minutes, the locals might have upset the applecart. Handicapped because bad wea ther kept Corky Schroeder out of the nets in the first, Bunny put ing the The one at the whistle-stop were up 10- 2. Schroeder arrived in time to start the second and the boys well outplayed Zurich for two periods. But they couldn’t over come the eight-goal deficit. Bill Waghorn, after his night mare in the nets, led the locals’ valiant fight in the last forty minutes with a four-goal splurge. His playmaker, Wagner, scored three. With a five—two won-lost record, the local hoop squad is now in second place, threatening St. Marys for the right to represent the league in OB A playdowns. The second last game of regu lar play, and a crucial one for both teams, will be played in the S.H.D.H.S. gymtorium next Wed nesday night when the Clinton Radio Squad will make their last effort to challenge the Maroon’s position. The radiomen have been breathing down the locals’ neck all year, losing close thrillers by 42-41, 56-49. The game, the Maroons’ first in the gymtorium, has been de signated “Ladies Night” and all ladies of the district will receive admission free. Game time is 8:30. The Maroons have won two matches from Centralia FlyeijS 65-49 and 62-42. St. Marys have handed the locals their two de feats but the Maroons are con fident they’ll take the stone town team in the playdowns.
