Celebrate Sixtieth Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Mitchell,
esteemed residents of Hensall,
celebrated. their sixtieth wedding
anniversary by holding open
house for their friends and rela
tives afternoon and evening. The
reception was followed by a fam
ily dinner the following day.
Their marriage was solemn
ized in December, 1891, at the
home of the bride’s parents, Mr.
and Mrs. John Rice, in Hibbert
Township by the Rev. E. Ser
mons, rector of Staffa Anglican
Church. They spent their honey
moon in Toronto, Oshawa and
Montreal. They recall that, driv
ing to the train at Dublin sta
tion on their wedding day they
noticed several farmers plough
ing, the weather being exception
ally mild and the ground clear
of snow. Upon their return from
their honeymoon they settled on
the groom's farm in Tuckersmith
Township, where they continued
to reside until about 25 years
ago, retiring to Hensall.
Mr. Mitchell is in his eighty-
fiith year and Mrs. Mitchell in
her eighty-first. Both enjoy good
health and were able to attend
church at the United Church
last Sunday. Mrs. Mitchell was
formerly Elizabeth Rice, and the
couple have a family of three
