At all druggists. 9" Lucan And District News New Trustees Elected At 8 irr Meeting At the annual trustee and ratepayer meeting at Birr Pub­ lic School, for which Jack Legg was chairman, Mrs. Norman Bil- yeo gave the delegate’s report from the trustees and ratepayers convention. Mrs. Sherman Adams and Mrs. Savage were appointed delegates to the annual conven­ tion to be held January 26 in Medway High School. George Savage was elected school trustee to succeed Gepa- ald Rollings, whose second three- year term had expired. In a discussion which followed several recommendations were made. Named were accident in­ surance, renewal of fire and wind insurance policy, budget for a surplus, more adequate heating facilities, a better type of school music and better black­ board lighting. The trustees for 1952 are Norman Bilyeo, Mrs. Sherman Adams and George Savage. The secretary-treasurer is Mrs. Adams. Youngsters Present Christmas Concert There is* something about children's concert which lures parents and friends from their warm fire-side even on the worst kind of a night. So last Friday night, in spite of the bitter cold, bad walking and blustering storm, there was a good turn­ out at the Community Centre to see the Nursery School and Public School Concert. The first part of the programme was giv­ en by the wee tots Nursery School. Mr. H. White acted man. The programme of an opening and closing chorus by the whole school, plays, dances, drills and a duet, All did their parts well but special mention might be made of the rhythm band and physical fit­ ness numbers. In the middle of the pro­ gramme Mr. Crocker presented field day awards. Five of the six cups competed for by 13 schools were won by the follow­ ing Lucan pupils—Gordon Dobie, Marlene Revington, Frank Har- Jim from the as chair- consisted •JU dy, Carol Brooks and Thompson. At the end of the programme Santa Claus appeared in person with gifts for all the pupils. Considering the weather a good attendance enjoyed the singing of the old familiar carols. .Two Explorers with their Mrs. Murray Hodgins, occupied the front seats. Clatworihy PHONE 12 GRANTON Carol Service A beautiful carol service was held in Holy Trinity Church on Monday evening. There was a splendid congregation and a full choir. Owing to absence of the rector-, Mr. Harrison, the Rev. E, 0. Vollick of Ailsa Craig took the service. The choir provided special music including a solo by Mr Charles Haggar. At midnight the carol, "Silent Night”, was sung as all knelt. The service closed with Holy Communion. Mr. and Mrs, Ray Renaud are with relatives in the Ottawa district. The Christmas concert which was held* in Brinsley United Church was well attended by parents and pupils of School Sections No. 5 and No. 6, Mc­ Gillivray, and under the leader­ ship of their teachers, Mrs. Wes Watson (No.5) and Miss Tomlin (No. 6). Harriet Hodgins Miss Harriet Hodgins, daughter of the late Thomas and Jane Hodgins, passed away in Victoria Hospital on Wednesday, December 26, and was buried from the Haskett Funeral Home on Friday at 2 p.m. Miss Hod­ gins spent her childhood near Lucan,j being born on a farm at the edge of the village, She leaves no imediate survivors.
