Her trousseau was displayed py Mrs. Lome Passmore, Mrs. La Verne Rodd, Miss Bernice Gilbert, Miss Jane Morgan and Mrs. Melvin Gardiner. Mrs. Ray Stewart showed the gifts. Miss Joyce Knox and Mrs, Jim Miller at­ tended the door. Mrs. Edgar Rodd, Mrs. Archie Morgan and Miss Feme Rodd received the guests. The tea table was presided over by Mrs. Jennie Kennedy and Mrs. Harry Rodd in the afternoon and Mrs. William Rodd and Mrs, Nelson Knox to the evening. Shower About forty ladies gathered at the home of Mrs. William Dic­ key on Monday evening of last week to do honor to Miss Feme Rodd bride-elect of last Satur­ day. I Ferne opened her gifts and i passed them around for the lad- , ies to see after which she thank ed everyone and invited all to come to visit her W’hen they are settled in their new home. A short program followed. Doris and Doreen Brock sang a num­ ber, “The Wedding of Jack and Ferne’’. Mrs. Gerald Hern gave a reading, “Mrs. Pat Dickey en­ tertains.’’ Readings were also given by Kathleen Johns, “My Sisters Best Fellow’’ and Mary Dickey, “Ferne Buys a Hat,” after which contests were en­ joyed and lunch was served. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. John Stewart (nee Ferne Rodd) who were married in Woodham United Church on Saturday last. Mrs. William Dickey was in Greenway on Wednesday of last week to attend the funeral of her cousin the late Mrs. Lyle Woodburn. Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Ray and children of near Mitchell were visitors on Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. La Verne Rodd. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Irwin McElrea who were married in London on Saturday, December 1. Greta Stephens had the mis­ fortune to fall on Wednesday evening of last week and break her nose. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Johns, Kathleen and Marie attended the funeral of the former’s aunt the late Mrs. Eliza Delve held at the Dinney Funeral Home in Exeter on Thursday of last week. Mary and Joyce Dickey spent the week-end at the home of Mr. H. Ford. Harold Berry has been con­ fined to the house with chicken­ pox. Miss Bernice Gilbert of Thorn­ dale was a visitor with Miss Ferne Rodd last week. Zion Lutheran Ladies Enterta in Kirkton Group The Ladies Aid of Zion Luthe­ ran Church Dashwood entertain­ ed the Zurich Lutheran Ladies Aid at a Christmas Social. The afternoon was spent with a program of several skits and solfgs then an exchange of gifts. After many Christmas carols were sung close to 90 ladies sat down to supper at tables decorat­ ed by candles and miniature Christmas trees. An Azalea plant was present­ ed to the pastoi’ and Mrs. Hige- nell on their wedding anniver­ sary. The afternoon was in charge of Group three under the super­ vision og Mrs. Aaron Restemeyer. BLANSHARD Mrs. Trewartha of Holmesville spent th§ week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Langford. Mrs. Leonard Thacker enter­ tained a number of girls on Tuesday afternoon to honor of Elizabeth’s birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Wes Mossey were Sunday guests of Mrs. James Mossey. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Jones and Carl were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Hopkins of Mitchell. Mrs. Fred Pat.tison spent Sun­ day with her sister, Mrs. Mowat Driver, of London. Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Hooper were Wednesday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Saakel of Mitchell. The monthly community social was held last Tuesday evening in Metropolitan School with a good attendance. The evening was spent in progressive euchre. Prizes were as follows: Ladies’ high, Mrs. Archie Dewar; ladies’ lone, Mrs. Norman McNaughton; gents’ high, Wib McKnight; gents’ lone, Howard Rinn. Lunch was served at the close. The next social is the Christmas con­ cert which is being held on Tuesday, December 18. Mrs. Phil Brine and Nancy of St. Marys spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Brine. Mrs. L. Jolliffe and family of Mount Elgin spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Ray Mills. Mr. and Mrs. Herb Robinson and B,arry of London, visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Brine. White Gift Sunday was observ­ ed in the Sunday School on Sun­ day morntog, Several members of the Sunday School took part to the service. Several members of the Shower Club gathered at the church re­ cently to honor a member, Fern Rodd. A program of, various numbers Was given and Fem was presented With a table. HENSALL Mr. Harry Caldwell, of Kippen who underwent a major opera­ tion to Clinton hospital Saturday is doing nicely. The Misses Betty and Corzine Smale of London spent the week­ end at their home here. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hudson and family of London were week­ end visitors with the former’s mother, Mrs. C. Hudson. Mrs. A. L. Case returned home aftei’ spending a few days with her mother Mrs. J. Reid in Lon­ don. Mrs. A. W. Kerslake was host­ ess at her home which was de­ corated for Christmas with a beautifully arranged tree, when the Arnold Circle Evening Aux­ iliary held their Christmas meet- ng. Mrs. D. Sinclair of Exeter, guest speaker, delivered an in­ spiring message. The Town Hall was filled Fri­ day evening, December' 7 for the euchre dance sponsored by Hen­ sail Women’s Institute, Winners for the euchre were: ladies, Mrs Taylor, Mrs. H. Bell; gents, J. McMu^rie, G- M. Drysdale. Mus­ ic was furnished by the Synco- pators, Presentation The home of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Sararas, Cromarty, was the scene of a delightful affair, Tues­ day last when some fifty neigh­ bours and friends gathered for a presentation for Mrs. S. Sar­ aras, of Hensail, who recently took up residence here, and who was a resident of Cromarty dis­ trict foi’ many years. Bingo was a highlight of the evening. Mrs, Sararas was presented with a trilight floor lamp and money. The accompanying address was read by Percy Wright, the pre­ sentation by Bob Parsons. Luncheon was served. GREENWAY • The CGIT Christmas Vesper Service will be held in the Unit­ ed Church on Sunday evening at 8 p.m. The annual Sunday School meeting of the United Church will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Curts on Monday evening, December 17. Sympathy is extended to Mr. Lisle Woodburn and to Mrs. Floyd McLean (Lillian Hayter) and daughter of Detroit in the death of Mr. McLean. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Pollock and son of London spent the week­ end with Mr. and Mrs. Milton Pollock and Carl. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Wood­ burn visited on Sunday with her mother, Mrs. R. Dixon who is a patient in St. Joseph’s Hospital. ■Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Eagleson on the birth of a son. Miss Viola Curts returned to 'her position in London after spending some time at her home. Mr. Herbert Harlton, Mr. Lisle Woodburn, and Miss Edna Wood are all patients to Hospitals in London.
