The United Church W.M.S. held its Christmas meeting at the home, of Mrs. W. Nielxol. Mrs. Earle Middleton presided. Taking part in the devotional were Mrs. W. Garrett and Mrs. T. Gunning. Papers on tha Christmas theme were read by Mrs. W. Nichol, Mrs. D. Morley and B. Hanson. Mrs. W. Cook a piano solo. The slate of new officers sented ’ by Mrs. W. Niohol Mrs. W. Rodd includes president Mrs. T. Gunning, vice-presidents, Mrs. M. Wass and Mrs. R. Rain­ ey; secretary, Mrs. Clare West­ man; treasurer, Mrs. D. Morley; temperance, Mrs. Earle Middle­ ton; stewardship, Mrs. N. Gun­ ning; sunshine, Mrs. W. Allan; birthday box, Mrs. M. Rigney; pianist, Mrs. R. Rainey. The hostess, assisted by Miss Olive Cook and Miss Minnie Rig­ ney, served refreshments. Miss Mabel Dezort, who months ago was called west to the sudden death of six due her ■ sister-in-law, is delighted to be back to Lucan and to the phone Exeter offiee again. Best Girl i Choose Officers The Deeembex' meeting of Anglican W.A. was held on Wed­ nesday afternoon, December 5, at the home of Miss Lina Ab­ bott, with Mrs. Harold Corbett in the chair. There was a splen­ did attendance. The lesson was read by Mrs. Mitchell Haskett while Mrs. Isabel Underwood and Mrs. C. Howard assisted in tha prayers. Laverty has been transferred from Leamington to the Singer Co. in St. Thomas. Until such time as they can se­ cure a house, Mrs. Laverty and the children are staying with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Brownlee. Miss Elaine Revington of don spent the week-end her parents. It was really Coursey night, for three of the four prize winners were Courseys; (1) Mrs. Tom Cour­ sey, (2) Mrs. Delrene Coursey, (1) Mr. Tom Coursey, (2) Mr. Onno Jansen. Under the sponsorship of the teacher, pupils and parents, these euchres began withthe idea of raising sufficient money to buy curtains for, the Christ­ mas concert. All have enjoyed the get-together and community spirit so much, that regardless of the fact the curtains are bought and paid for, the euchres will continue after Christmas.
